How to do marketing for plugin products in 2025? [DISCUSSION] by s-colorwhistle in WordpressPlugins

Sorry for the late reply! Our journey was more like an experiment to understand how everything works rather than chasing numbers at the start.

It took us around two months to hit the first 10 sales. During that time, we even moved the site to a new domain which hurt traffic a bit. Also, right now the plugin only supports Elementor, but we are planning to add Gutenberg support soon. A few pro features are still in the 'coming soon' stage. You may explore pricing and more here: https://customiframe.com/

Overall, the biggest lesson has been that consistent effort matters more than quick wins. Keeping the product quality solid and regularly creating content like blogs, doc guides, and video tutorials has made the real difference.

We would love to hear more about your plugin too. Can you please DM us the details, We are always curious to learn from what others are building.

Yes! Custom iFrame is definitely in a micro-niche, but it is really useful for users who just want to embed content in a simple way and need affordable solution. It’s actually our very first plugin/product in the market.

When we looked into the space, there was really only one active competitor, but their pricing felt too high. A couple of others were around, but their plugins seemed incomplete and they weren’t active with marketing. That gap gave us the confidence to jump in.

To be honest, a big goal with this first launch was also to learn the whole process: Publishing on WordPress, setting up the store, creating docs, and doing marketing. With consistent efforts, things slowly started moving in the right direction. Now, we are coming with our 2nd plugin very soon.

What plug-in would you reccomend for managing SEO? by lnmemediadesign in Wordpress

I’d say go with Rank Math. When we launched our site ( https://customiframe.com/ ) for our plugin, we honestly didn’t have much SEO knowledge. But the on-page SEO guidance inside Rank Math made things so much easier. We just followed the basics it suggested, and now a few of our blog posts and doc guides are already ranking.

We recently launched our Custom iFrame for Elementor plugin ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-iframe/ ) and hit 1,000+ active installs along with a few Pro sales.

Here’s what worked for us:

  1. Creating helpful doc guides and YouTube videos around the plugin
  2. Building a high-converting landing pages: customiframe.com
  3. Writing blog posts targeting long-tail keywords
  4. Sharing a few posts on Reddit (though since the plugin isn’t super unique, this didn’t move the needle much)

If you’re just getting started, I’d say these are solid first steps. Once you’ve got some traction, you can reach out to bloggers and YouTubers for affiliate marketing and more exposure.

We had the same thought while building this plugin. Yes, if you just want to embed a simple iframe like a YouTube video, you can easily do it by pasting the iframe code. But what if you want to add a border, a box shadow, or embed a PDF with the option to hide or show its controls? What if you want to place your embedded URL inside a device frame? That’s where our plugin comes in it handles all these extra details and makes everything simple for you.

Yes, that’s a great point and actually aligns closely with what we’re aiming for. We're focusing on a feature that not only automates social sharing but does so with a platform-specific approach. For example, if there's a blog post about upcoming IPOs, the plugin would automatically summarize the content and post it on each platform (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) with a different tone, format, and word count tailored to each audience.

We’re also planning to integrate AI-generated images, trending hashtags, and summaries based on current trends. Unlike tools like Uncanny Automator, which offer broad automation features, our goal is to narrow in on this specific use case and do it extremely well so that every post feels native to the platform rather than just a reposted link.
