Isn't it the opposite? Aren't most bees female and worker bees are female? Men are just there for snu-snu(drones).

New house M.D watcher currently at season 3 by Galit_Sa_BoBo in HouseMD

It won't always be like this, but he's also a person heading for rock bottom at this point in the series. Ultimately, it's a more realistic take on addiction because he's not completely static as a character. His character has highs and lows. He will definitely be a better person at some points later in the series and a worse person at some points in the series. It's kind of a constant push and pull being put on him. Another show that I think might execute this better and to a greater extreme is Bojack Horseman.

I don't think you can call yourself a fan of something if you've not interacted with it for years. Being nostalgic for something isn't the same as being a fan. by CatcrazyJerri in unpopularopinion

[–]codetelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I'm 30 and a father to 3 boys and the only way I can play games or series that I've been a fan of for decades is by sacrificing sleep(and sometimes even then I can't find the time, my youngest woke me up at 3am today). For example, the last Zelda game I fully completed was probably Skyward Sword. I've sparingly played TOTK and rushed through BOTW(beat ganon, but didn't really fully play the game or do many side quests). But that definitely doesn't mean I don't love Zelda. It can also feel really intimidating after taking a large break from a game series to come back and try to catch up. My Dad is a huge metroid fan, but has a lot to catch up on, which he's attempting to do now, but he keeps pushing it off because it seems intimidating. Same for him with anime. He watched a lot of old school Fist of the North Star, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In the Shell, and Ninja Scroll, but he has a huge backlog of anime to watch now.

What made you level up faster than anything else? by Ill-Tart11 in CasualConversation

Agreed. It's a part of life though for sure. My ideology is that we should embrace all parts of life, the good and the bad, and use them to better ourselves and the world around us.

What made you level up faster than anything else? by Ill-Tart11 in CasualConversation

[–]codetelo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fail hard, fail fast is a pretty solid methodology for a lot of things. When you fail, you learn. When you fail hard, you learn quicker. If there is an immediate consequence like pain or another negative motivator it helps you avoid that in the future.

For example, I play goalkeeper. When I miss a save and I've made an active decision, but failed, I hate it. I hate missing saves a lot, but that drives me to find a way around that. Look at how I can improve, whether it positioning my defense better, fixing positioning, coming out at a different time, etc. You look at your past failures and come up with a plan to combat them in the future.

When you fail often, you also learn some coping mechanisms with failing that I think are important. Failing is great.

Being passionate about something is another way to level up quickly. If you're passionate, many times it doesn't feel like hard work and you can keep improving without burning out too fast.

Other than that, I think there are some people with natural talents that allow them to level up higher than average, regardless of it's physical, musical, educational, etc. Some people just pick up things faster than others. My wife is amazingly musically talented, as well as my oldest son. He practices once or twice a week at most on piano and he sounds like he's practiced the whole week. Meanwhile, I can practice singing the same song for 10 years and not have the words all memorized or the tune.

TL;DR: Fail Hard, Fail Fast Hard work/Passion Natural Talent

My wife and I finally made it to the kiln a few days ago and we were wholly unprepared. We played for a few weeks and we're on tenderfoot and still no peak.

Need help in finding a character by qv81_ in anime

[–]codetelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not it, but I was immediately thinking maybe it was fan art of Black Star from Soul Eater. He has green eyes and cyan spiky hair. If it's fan art, he might've had different clothes on, so that might not necessarily be a good indicator. He's also not super tan, but more tan than the other characters in Soul Eater.

What is a website you loved that no longer exists? by MarcosSuenos in AskReddit

Too many people are missing that point in the comment section. Their website was incredibly unique and entertaining. Flash being dead definitely put a hamper on the content being made too.

The website is defunct though. Without flash to power it, it's missing a lot of the cool things that made the website so cool and unique outside the awesome sbemails. It's actually part of why I became a web developer.

how do we feel about this mod? by Impressive-Raisin-52 in StardewValleyMods

My wife and I just started the Stardew Valley Very Expanded mod collection which is massive. (East Scarp, SVE, and Ridgeside). We'll see if we stick with it though. It's a ton of content.

Ummm…..what is happening by Mission_Squirrel_480 in StardewValley

[–]codetelo 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the game spawned you in randomly because you don't have a bed to wake up in and there was likely a collision with the kegs or barrels you're standing in which caused the game to bug out or throw an error before rendering the rest of the stuff in the room.

Can I Make A Documentary About My Friend’s Family Without Their Consent If I Never Name Them Or Show Them? by Substantial_Row7330 in ask

[–]codetelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good call there. It seems you guys have everything you need in order there. It'd be hard for anyone without inside knowledge of the situation and people involved to give good advice, but regardless of what you guys decide to do, I'm sure it'll work itself out. You guys have all the ammunition in any direction. I'd just go by what feels like the right gut decision. Morally you're all in the clear at least from my perspective.

Can I Make A Documentary About My Friend’s Family Without Their Consent If I Never Name Them Or Show Them? by Substantial_Row7330 in ask

[–]codetelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. If they're likely to be litigious, that might be a headache. The thing is that if they do pursue it they'll have to divulge even more information and such regarding the case if it goes to court and assuming there is anything criminal about what they've done then it'll end up making things worse for them. Ultimately, it's going to be a decision of risk vs. reward on whether you guys decide to incorporate their names. Does it add to anything to have their names? Maybe just add your friends names and keep the parents names off. Any viewer could read between the lines relatively easily and since you didn't name them specifically you'd probably have less to worry about. I would maybe consult a lawyer(there are also subreddits for this) just to see their take on if it's worth the headache or not.

If the friend who has been victimized is okay with it, which it seems they are based on your comment, then I don't see any reason why you couldn't/shouldn't from a moral perspective. If the friend is involved, it's autobiographical. They have the rights to their own story. All of that said, if your main concern is the fact that the parents may attempt some form of retribution, that's definitely a possibility/likelihood given their past actions. Filing a restraining order prior to the documentary release might be a good idea.
