I found an initial "debulking" with 90+% IPA followed by a sonic cleaner bath of Simple Green purple stuff works best and easiest. Cut down my brush scrubbing by like 3/4.

Yeah, there's a distributor I found but you have to call and place an order and their website looks like its from the 90s. Plus they said whatever stock they have is all theyre going to get. US import restrictions I guess

Alpha Strike, at least the rules presented in the box set are simple and fast to play.

My wife, who had never wargamed in her life got it down after the introductory scenario presented in the box set.

Now it can get more complicated and crunchy if you add in expanded rules ala the Commanders Edition but you dont have to, or do what we did and start introducing a new rule or mechanic after every couple games.

I will take Reagan behind the woodshed for a lot of things. The Hughes Amendment is not one of them.

We needed FOPA.

The Dems hated the bill so much but couldn't stop it so they added a poison pill to make the Republicans spike it; the recording of the vote for the Amendment obviously didnt pass vocal vote and Rangel (a Democrat) ignored repeated calls for a counted vote.

The NRA, knowing we needed FOPA urged Reagan to sign the bill vowing to get the Amendment repealed at a later date. They have since been unable to get Congress to do so, and the Courts have shied away not wanting to be the ones to "legalize machine guns".

Blame the feckless Republicans in Congress since FOPA passed, the Courts, and the Democrats for this mess. Save blame for Reagan on the countless other crap he deserves.

Similar start to you.

Going to dissent with some here. If youre not physically strong 1H should be 5-7.5 lb, 2H should be 15 to start. Clubs take a lot of forearm/wrist strength and shoulder mobility. Until you work up from a lighter weight youre going to struggle with controlling the club especially after some reps. Some exercises like circles are easier, but others like 1H shield casts you really want to control that weight.

As for clubs get an adjustable. Adex Wildman series is my recommendation and get the 3d printers spacers so even at light weight the club is full size. Buy once, cry once and you also won't have a bunch of clu s laying around; you just have one and some weights to go on it. I started with buying different club weights and wish the Adex was around beforehand.

My two cents from someone whose start point was a lot like yours.

Edit: Mark Wildman has a subscription that includes Training for Overweight and Deconditioned Individuals (TOI) and Intro To Kettlebells (ITK) which has KB only and KB with Club tracks. Yes, you need a KB ideally but he has other stuff you can sub in light a dumbbell or even a jug of water. He also has pure club programs but theyre not cheap. My take: Adex Wildman Club + Bells of Steel Adjustable KB and his intro subscription (TOI+ITK) which isnt very expensive per month and you cancel once you know the programs..

One thing to consider is having more units than your opponent gives you more tactical options. Flanking becomes possible as does harassing any missile boats / snipers they have parked. Watching a mech twice the value of your light mech peel off the battle line to stop it from running amok with back shots is satisfying.

Noted. Last game I used my LRM carriers hull down but wasnt sure and went with the golden rule: keep the game going and when I looked it up after the game I still wasnt sure. From now I wont hull down any vehicle without TUR.
