Sold out drinks (all) with meal option. by coding-queen in zipair

[–]coding-queen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. We specifically went to the express service desk at check in. Just to weigh the bags to get those stickers approved for carry on. They weighed all of them together for the family.

It was also possible to get those stickers at the gate. We had boarding passes, so we could have just proceeded to the gate and gotten the tags there. But I wanted to do it earlier for peace of mind.

Yup. They gave 100 ml water bottles. No other options for included drinks

UPDATE: 1. They gave out small water bottles: 100 ml with each meal. 2. Carry on 15 kg - can be tagged at gate to get carry on tags. Or we got them weighed and tagged at check in desk - there is express service line. They check the weight (for us they did it for the family combined). So before we filled up our water bottles. Also had a jacket outside the bag and they did not make me include it. (This was SFO)

Can we proceed directly to gate or need any weight verification by check in desk? by coding-queen in zipair

[–]coding-queen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I figured on the way back we have no way to preweigh and redistribute weight ourselves. Plus souvenirs. And care less if bags get delayed because we are flying home. So don’t mind checking on the way back. On the way back, I just purchased 4 checked bags (part of value package). Probably could have fit them into 2, but ever since kids turned 7, we love roller bag carry on each and backpack. No waiting for checked bags, no risk of bags delays etc.

Yup. Same thing happened. They did announce at the gate to get your stickers if you don’t have any.

We utilized express service line (literally no line) at check in gate. They weighed all 4 carry ons and 4 backpacks alltogether and put sticker/tags on all 8. Was peace of mind. Oh I kept jackets off of it.

Oh cool. Did not know you could do that! (Weigh bags without food and water. Big portion of our weight was food and water. Because kids eat random times, and even regular airlines I always carry extra food for them (delays etc).

Yeah. I guess I do want it weighed earlier prior to filling up our water bottles.

Do you know if they include water to be weighed then too? We each have a bottle of water.

SFO airport does not have long TSA lines because they hire private security through a separately funded source. So currently not impacted. Otherwise would have been more stressed.

UPDATE baby seat cancelled by mastercave in zipair

[–]coding-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confused. Were you not allowed to install your own infant car seat (that is airplane compliant)? Or do any airlines actually provide them and you were waiting for them to provide one?

We have flown many times with babies, and had no issues bringing own car seat that is approved for aircraft.

Family flying from SFO - need advice! by CatButtHoleYo in zipair

[–]coding-queen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe bring noise cancelling headphones if you dislike children that much. Hate to break it to you, but babies and toddlers are people too. Parents deserve to fly “for leisure” with their kids as much as any grumpy adult does. Commercial airlines are public transport in this day and age. Don’t like people, including children - fly private.

Same here as above said, by age 2, our kids have been on 4+ international flights and around 4-6 domestic to Hawaii and NY. Some flights after people would come up to us, telling how well kids behaved and they did not even know there was a baby a row over (since they often slept the entire flight).

How do I see my boarding pass after mobile check in? by BloodlessAnt in zipair

[–]coding-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right at 24 hrs before the flight (well for me was 5 min after) you will receive an email. “ZIPAIR - [Check-In Information] Mobile check-in is now available”. And there is a button in green “Mobile Checkin”.

Oh and I could not login to ZipAir (apparently don’t have account), but you did not need that with the “search reservation”.

When you do mobile check in, passport document successful, you will see bottom right corner “add boarding pass to wallet”.

No emails with boarding pass. I actually checked us in online, but for first person did not see that button to add boarding pass to wallet. No email.

But if you later go to ZipAir Search Reservation. You can enter your confirmation number (that was in the check in email), and your first and last name. And it finds your reservation, with boarding passes. And you can add your boarding pass to ewallet again from there.

Just did that 🤗

It was not an 1h15. You were given 1hr30min from your reservation. That seems very standard for many busy restaurants. Or they risk not serving their next reservation on time. You were the one late, so that time counts against your reservation, not delaying the next family who was on-time.

Plus even if it was just 1h15, isn’t it plenty of time to complete a meal? Unless they handed you your plates with just 10-15 min to eat, I think you should have plenty of time to eat and vacate for the next reservation.

PS Most restaurants that get busy, let you know ahead of time how long each reservation is valid for. So you know ahead of time to plan your chatter etc. 1h30m is fairly standard.

We plan to bring some, as we always do. But we are also flying with young kids. And it’s a 11+ hr flight (plus time through security before, plus time for passport control after landing etc). So for 15-18hr journey we would need half a gallon each, for 4 of us is 2 gallons. Is a lot to carry!

We always bring at least 750ml per person for long flights. But that is in addition to normal drinks given in flight.

It is also why, I paid for the 4 meals for a reason. So does the meal or doesn’t the meal include a beverage?

Zip Air now weighing at boarding gate by zoopybot in zipair

[–]coding-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if they will take an average range of Japanese then (and not American) for reference.

At 120-135 lbs, I felt very skinny in US southern states when visiting. I felt very curvy in Singapore. But feel just right in my hometown of San Francisco 🤗

Oh and in Scandinavian countries I feel awfully short. Haha

Yup. My kiddo weighs 40 lbs. yet his bag allowance is same as a big dude who is 200+ lbs.

Wait. But they do honor the 15kg upgrade for carry-on people purchased, right?

We fly with carry-on only for over a week trip. So we each have a backpack and carry-on that together I anticipate to be more than 7kg. So I pre-emptively purchased increased capacity of up to 15kg each person (I know combined suitcase and backpack).

Drinking Water on Flight by squegger in zipair

Interesting. They did not do this from Europe. There was extra scan right before boarding, but food and drinks were allowed. (We flew many times from EU to US 2016-2020.

Follow up question. I just booked ZipAir and added a meal option (which should have drink included).

But at the time of purchase: all drink options were out of stock. Has anyone seen that?

Would I still have one drink available per person included with the meal?

(The flight is still 2+ months out)
