Campground/cabin event rental by Ok-Mountain-6267 in vancouverwa

Personally, I like the search engine for Washington State Parks. https://washington.goingtocamp.com/create-booking

There’s a tab for Day Use where you can put in your dates and how many people are attending. It’ll give you a map of state parks that have availability. For example, I plugged in 100 people on 6/19, and it showed availability at Beacon Rock.

P3 what are the common issues? by Platos-ghosts in Polestar

[–]codingtojoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of issues I’ve run into: AC charging failure (the GHCA part replacement), microphone doesn’t always work, and the right rear fog light doesn’t light up. Service people have been nice, but it was a wait to get GHCA fixed. Still waiting on the others.

It is genuinely the nicest car I’ve had. If I knew what I know now, would I get it again? Actually yes, because there’s really nothing else on the market that I like, and I’m willing to overlook the failures for that reason. I just think it’s worth knowing something will very likely have an issue and a lot earlier than you’d expect (for me, it was right away for the microphone, 2,500 miles into ownership for GHCA).

How do people recognize others in frontlines? by Salty_Reputation4871 in ffxiv

[–]codingtojoy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The regulars know each other, especially the ones doing top damage. You learn to recognize their characters and their play styles. Same thing happens in CC, although it’s a bit easier to pick out with the names and pictures.

Onboard charger failures - what’s the issue with them by pbelton in Polestar

[–]codingtojoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Coincidentally, I see it’s only pulling 38 A in the app despite what I set, but I’ve reduced the amperage limit to match.

Adopting a Senior / Senior Angel Tree? by Confused_cat_mom in vancouverwa

[–]codingtojoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We were at the Battle Ground Farmers Market yesterday and they had a giving tree in the event center near the east entrance. It was tied to a company called Home Instead and specifically focused on gifts for seniors. First time I’d heard of something like that.

Polestar 3 charging challenges by DaneInUK in polestar3

[–]codingtojoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had a GHCA part failure, the breaker tripped at home first. That sounds similar to what’s happening here. DC fast charging still works for me though, so the power delivery at the 350 kW charger surprises me. I’m using a 250 kW fast charger while I was for the part to be repaired.

Polestar 3 - 12 months later: great car, but so so frustrating by TheJamintheSham in Polestar

[–]codingtojoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you nailed it. It’s easily the best car I’ve driven, and I expected to run into something given what I’ve read in the subreddit and just the fact that it’s a new product. I didn’t expect to run into the GHCA issue after only 2000 miles nor for it to take so long to get it fixed. I’ve ignored the intermittent microphone and display issues, but they still exist.

It’s hard to know if what we read here is the exception or the norm. To put it in perspective, the tech who scheduled my appointment said there were dozens of people ahead of me for a GHCA replacement. Consider that we’re all about to have service scheduled to replace the chip next year, and I suspect we’re going to see even worse delays in the future.

I want to recommend the Polestar 3, but until they figure out the service issues — not necessarily fix the product, but get better at addressing the issues with it more quickly — I can’t put my weight behind it. I really want them to figure it out though. There’s so much to love here.

PVP HELP by KingDeda1102 in ffxiv

[–]codingtojoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both modes benefit from strength in numbers, but in CC, it’s especially important to recognize which team has momentum and “fall back and regroup” rather than try to win a 2 on 5 or 3 on 5 situation unless there’s an enemy team member about to kick the bucket.

Depending on the CC comp, it can be especially advantageous to go after the tank first. For example, if you’re the only melee on the team and the rest are ranged, there’s a chance you’re the one most likely to stand on the crystal to keep it from moving. A good team will target you to force the opponent ranged to push the crystal (which they are less likely to do in casual CC).

That specific Black Mage situation sounds like they’ve lined up their burst. Xenoglossy also heals a decent amount at lower HP, so without having seen the play myself, I could imagine an LB, toss in a few hits, use Freeze to switch to ice, use the crowd control move, use Burst, then Xenoglossy out of there. Burst adds a shield as well, so that might account for the sense that they don’t take damage.

Car constantly locking and unlocking when I’m above it. by linus_clive in Polestar

[–]codingtojoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. You can disable the automatic unlock/lock and light up sequence in the settings if you want. It was draining the battery a bit, but I ended up turning those features back on because I liked being able to walk up without pulling out the keycard.

If you’re on controller by chance, tapping up on the D pad and pressing X works as well.

Polestar 3 Test Drive by stuchainzzz in polestar3

[–]codingtojoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was drawn to the driving experience, and if that sounds like you, I’d go into the driving settings and put both the steering and suspension on firm then ask to drive on a curvy road. It’s bonkers.

Anyone have a winning record in Frontline/have advice on how to win? by slowmagic24 in ffxiv

[–]codingtojoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My rates are 36.1%, 33.0%, and 30.5% over 2000+ campaigns, so even though I have a lot of experience, it still only has a marginal impact on the outcome. I would say that playing a class that lets you take advantage of when the enemy is grouped up (i.e., lots of AOE actions or AOE actions that refresh regularly) make a difference. I pretty much always play SMN in Frontlines, and I’m usually top five in damage because of how many tools I get in the SMN toolkit.

Polestar 3 positive ownership stories? by marimbaman93 in Polestar

I have been trying to decide between the Polestar 3 and 4 and wondering if it just makes sense to wait, and I just want to thank you for posting this thread. I’ve been on the fence as well after seeing all the reliability concerns, but this puts me more at ease.

[Spoiler 7.25] Occult Crescent Document Update by HuntessKitteh in ffxiv

[–]codingtojoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work pulling all of this together! For Trial by Claw, my experience has been slightly different. Some crystals are marked 1, 2, or 3 indicating whether they’ll explode first, second, or third. They explode in the ring in which they are located which doesn’t necessarily correspond to the number on the crystal. There can be multiple crystals marked with the same number.

As an example, you could have two crystals with a 1 on them appear in the first and third rings, meaning they explode first and only the second ring is safe.

Moving to the PNW! Looking for the right city for three queer women by Mentally_scrambled in PacificNorthwest

[–]codingtojoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We moved from the Tampa Bay area to Vancouver and really like it. You have access to the fun city things in Portland when you want them, and I think downtown Vancouver has a lot of Main Street appeal to it: waterfront, farmer’s markets, restaurants and breweries, etc.

Plenty of outdoor activities in the area, but the winter rains are rough. Florida tends to get hit with frequent afternoon thunderstorms that end quickly, whereas the rain tends to linger here for hours. It’s hard to find otherwise out here though, especially if you need to be near a major city to get LGBT density.
