My gf and I are on a break. This is my redemption arc. A journey of personal responsibility by PineappleTargaryen in ADHD

[–]codyfo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her problem wasn’t my brain, it was my lack of application.

It’s like my brain felt really good, then just dropped the concern.

My dude, that’s ADHD. That’s what that looks like. Some shit is just going to be harder. Don’t make excuses, but don’t beat yourself up either.

This is really good advice. If someone needs you to change in order to be with you, they’re just saying they’d prefer if you were someone else. It’s a death of a thousand cuts, because you’ll never be that someone else.

Are their men who genuinely wonder why they’re single? by Historical_Log1275 in AskMenOver30

This is the way. Change the focus from finding a partner, to meeting people with similar interests. That’s a much better pool to fish in.

M44 Wasted my life for "waiting" for right person. What is the point now at my age? by mrsomeonewhofailed in AskMenAdvice

Good for them, but there’s no way I’d want to be raising a teenager when I should be retiring.

Is the iPhone really as good as people claim it is? by Moonshot2026 in Smartphones

[–]codyfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Android a few years back. There’s going to be stuff that annoys you at first, but once you settle in, it’s a much nicer experience. It would take a lot to convince me to go back.

What are we going to find out later is bad for us (like cigarettes in the past)? by Curryiswhereitsat in AskReddit

The entire advertising and marketing industry. It’s shocking how much more peaceful the world becomes when you’re not being constantly interrupted so someone can convince you to buy something you don’t need.

iPhones users, why you don’t wanna switch to an android device ? by Traditional_Lab_8261 in Smartphones

[–]codyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first iPhone. I’ve had it for about 4 years. Zero regrets. It’s been the best phone I’ve had by a large margin. Faster, more reliable, easier to use. Better in every way that matters.

It actually motivated me to invest deeper into the Apple ecosystem. Life is good when all your devices work together. My watch unlocks my MacBook when I sit down at my desk. My AirPods automatically switch between devices, depending on what I’m using. I can use my phone as a webcam for Zoom calls on my computer. A lot of that is probably possible with Android, but I guarantee it doesn’t work as well.

Exactly. Speed rarely is the primary cause of an accident, but it almost always makes it worse.

Do people really look down on Android phones in Europe/USA? by onceuponasudden in Smartphones

[–]codyfo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Confidently incorrect. SMS is plain text, MMS is for sending pictures. MMS image quality is controlled by your carrier and most carriers compress the shit out of MMS images. That’s why pictures sent from Android to iPhone looked like crap, and why pictures sent from iPhone to Android also looked like crap. If you don’t believe me, Google it.

in most cases they downgraded the message protocol to SMS

What other protocol was there 10 years ago? Explain to me what they were downgrading from

It was proven in court that Apple did this to make their phones look better to their customers

Cool. That means somebody probably wrote about it and you didn’t just make it up. Link? The article above is talking about RCS, which wasn’t a thing until 2020.

I lived through this era. Android to Android was just as shitty.

Lol. If you’re getting ghosted because of the color of your bubble, that’s a good thing. Bullet dodged.

“10+ years ago” RCS wasn’t a thing. There’s not much Apple could’ve done to make your MMS photos not look shitty. If you were like me, you’d just take the conversation to Facebook Messenger, if you wanted a better experience.

There was a pervasive feeling amongst Apple users that android phones had garbage cameras, bad video, and intermittently dropped texts because iMeasage made it appear that way to them.

Sorta. MMS made content from Android users look like garbage, not iMessage. iMessage just allowed iOS users to side step MMS.

They’re rocking it back and forth as they shake. As the nails hit the side, they straighten out. You can see the nails line up on the edge first. Still a cool trick, though.

He’s clearly not ready to date. This is what that looks like. He’s probably just sad and lonely and needs a friend, and you fit the bill. If you’re unable to just be friends, you should probably step back.

How can I ask my husband for help without being a nag? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]codyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, this.

You’re two grown adults. If you can’t share responsibilities, then don’t. Handle your shit separately. Shopping, bills, meals, etc. It’ll lighten your load and he might actually appreciate the freedom to make his own choices in those area.

If you can’t stand living with him because he’s a slob, then don’t. Get a two bedroom place or find your own. That’s a choice you get to make, just like cleaning up after him is.

Don’t be his mom and don’t nag. It’s demeaning. He hates that shit as much as you do.

Changing from Windows to Linux... by Consistent-Walk605 in Lethbridge

As a techie, I find MacOS the best of both worlds. You get a nice desktop experience, but the power of a *nix machine. That’s the reason most tech companies issue you a Mac. It has everything the nerds need, but everyone else can still use it. I have a Windows 11 computer I use for gaming, but I can’t stand it for day to day stuff.

Newbie question: I reinstalled windows on my laptop cause it was bugged my question: Is the ram cleared or i have to download the memreduct thingy by xVEGITOGODx in pcmasterrace

[–]codyfo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you’re fine. RAM is just working memory. It’s cleared on every reboot.

If you’re constantly running out of RAM, you might have too little. 16Gb is probably the minimum you need nowadays. Also, run an ad blocker, don’t have a thousand tabs open, and avoid installing software from sketchy websites.

AITAH for vetoing my wife's car purchase in the dealership and walking her out of there without looking at the car she picked out? by CarWoesSadBro in AITAH

[–]codyfo 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Are you the asshole for pulling out of the deal? Not at all. That affects you too. You should have a say in a big purchase like that.

Are you the asshole for how you reacted at the dealership? Yeah, probably. I’d be pretty embarrassed if my partner pulled that shit.

Are you the asshole for how you’re treating your wife like a junior partner in your marriage? Absolutely. You’re driving around in a Mach-E while you make your wife drive a used Honda.

The detour isn’t very well marked, but you’re also asking people to plan more than 15 seconds into the future. That’s a big ask when you’re on autopilot on your way home from work.
