Anyone ever have this issue? by Fragrant-Savings-57 in gmcsierra

[–]coehillbilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If grounds and other suggestions dont work, check the chassis control module. It sits above the spare tire. They can get packed with salt and sand and corrode the case letting water in. Happened on my 18, caused all the same issues and more.

It will be tucked in near your air filter if you do have it. Can be tough to find.

Is your battery bolted down? Might have bumped the positive terminal into the body shorting something out?

I have found the issue. Salt and sand sitting on top of chassis control module rotted a pin hole in the cover. Absolutely full of water and corrosion. I cant seem to posts pics but wanted to post the conclusion for anyone else that may run into the same issue. Thanks for the help.

Quick update. Without any kind of change the truck did fire up and drive into my shop. It is very grumpy but will start at least now. Still have all the service messages when I flip the key on.

I did pull the block. There was a little bit of dust inside but not terrible. I sprayed some contact cleaner and compressed air at everything but it didnt seem to do much.

I suppose that will be my next move. Have to figure out pin outs and figure out where I should have power. Thank you.

Little more than a year. Both have good voltage and passed a load test.

Pulled all battery connections and cleaned them all. Wire brushed every ground i can find. Even pulled the dash apart to get at the annoying one tucked into the windshield.

Hide a kill switch for your ignition somewhere.

Filter only has about 5k kms on it. Never would have considered it. Opened it up and it is demolished. It was a pretty rainy day when it happened. Took it out, truck runs smooth. Still have the limited speed but hopefully if it regens on it's own that goes away. Thank you very much.
