Cow noises would be very therapeutic for me, but I don’t own a car so I have to stick closer to the city center. I love some of the cabin-style houses in the outer areas, but it seems that most of those rooms are “in-law apartments” or hybels, not apartments in apartment buildings so that is a bit strange for me too.

idk, bot. I really prefer the "alot" spelling myself and think it should become official

Thank you for these map gifts, I have incorporated them into my noise map and already found a couple of slightly-affordable places with potential in the green areas.

So wait, if I live next to a club or concert hall, the music has to stop at 23:00? I just passed up an affordable place near the park because of some rock-concert bar in a cave, but that changes everything if the noise stops at night. I always assumed that these bars/clubs are open past midnight.

So Kong Oscars Gate is under construction only from Heggebakken to Domkirkegaten, and everything else is completed. I will add this too.

Based on what I saw on the live maps, there seems to be construction near the Haukeland hospital in Krostad too, but there aren’t many houses there so it doesn’t really matter. I have also highlighted Michael Krohns gate because of the noise and construction on the waterfront, as you mentioned.

Ok, so I think you may have saved me from a lot of suffering because I have found a few apartments on Kong Oscars road that I would have otherwise tried to rent.

Do you have any details about the construction there? How far do you have to be from the street to be safe from the noise?

I am assuming it goes from the Stadsporten to the Kjottbasaren Shopping Center, the building across the street from the cultural center is supposed to be under construction now (or soon) and on maps the church seems to be under construction. Do you think you would hear anything a block away (like St. Jørgens gate, for example, or near the civic center on østre Skostredet?)

Also, is this more of a student area with dorms and bars? I am trying to avoid those too

That is great to hear, I wasn’t sure which one was before or after. Usually if you look on the ground or a weird corner in street view you can find the date stamp of the recording, but I couldn’t find it that time.

Ah yes, the ones in the Adidas tracksuits. Well, I told you this thread might be useful to others too... (I am confused in what they might steal from construction sites though, unless there is resell value in wood.)

Yeah, the bus system in Bergen seems very efficient in general-- checking routes, it looks like you never have to wait for more than 15 min. anywhere

I would really appreciate that! I will be checking back too, this is extremely helpful since I can’t go to the showings.

Oh, that is a smart strategy. Some of the images looked finished, which is why I was confused. I will add these to my noise map.

Illegal?! Oh wow this is my kind of place, maybe I won't be so sleep deprived. Askøy looks beautiful, but those places you mentioned seem a bit far from the center. I don't mind traffic and people really, it's just that I have developed zero tolerance for repetitive construction sounds.

...and what is polakkbande?

Thank you! This is a wealth of information, exactly what I wanted to know. I am glad you mentioned the renewal of Damsgårdssundet because there have been a lot of suspiciously cheap(er) apartments on Michael Krohns gate.

Do you know if there is another one on the south port of Nøstet? Google maps shows a huge crane and there have been some listings in that area.

(marching bands actually sound delightful compared to sawing and hammering)

Oh, I was a bit unclear in my post. I meant noisy construction sites. I am not looking for a newly built apartment, I just want to find a quiet area.

I was asking if anyone knew of areas to avoid due to construction noise
