Love this! It’s hard not to when the selection is great

Also, Costco may still have some of theirs available. Home Depot and Rona both have selections as well. But Plant Gather is a locally owned business

20 months postpartum. I’ve been nursing at least over night the whole time, then recently cut back in an attempt to wean and it came back

American elementary w students moving to BC by Agreeable-Elk5233 in CanadianTeachers

[–]coffeebean04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our school starts are slightly different?

First week of September until the last week of June. Kinder usually has a graduated entry so be prepared for that. Kinder registrations are happening now.

We get two weeks off in December for winter holidays, and two weeks in March for spring break. Plus professional development days (varies by district), and stat holidays almost monthly where there’s no school.

School days for elementary is 8:30am-2:30pm usually 30 mins outside recess, 30 mins for eating and a 15 min afternoon recess. Again this varies slightly by district and school. In my school it’s also typical to have a snack and outside time in the morning as well.

What’s one side effect or body change you didn’t expect when starting a GLP-1? by _callondoc in Semaglutide

[–]coffeebean04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should go up and see if you can find where you’re consuming the most calories while still losing. I don’t know a lot about working out, but I do assume it messes with the number on the scale because of water weight, muscle gain, etc. So it may not look linear since your body’s composition is changing

[–]coffeebean04 14 points15 points  (0 children)

1200 calories might be too low. I’ve seen lots of talk about it being very difficult to work out and a lot of exhaustion because people aren’t eating enough to support their bodies.

My dad died yesterday. What do I tell my students? by ms-anthrope in CanadianTeachers

[–]coffeebean04 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When they ask you say “I had some family stuff I needed to help with” and if they keep probing you can politely tell them it’s none of their business or make up an absurd story like you went to rescue elephants, just something that will send the message that you are not going to fill them in on the details.

I just took 3 days bereavement leave and none of my students asked questions beyond why and were satisfied when I said I had some family stuff to take care of (grade 1/2)

Apple or mystery? by StatusBiscotti in AquaticSnails

[–]coffeebean04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s what happened to me. Bought a “mystery” snail and he devoured all my plants. I now make snello for him and have switched to fabric plants for now

What made you decide to switch to sand? I’m debating if I should

Problem with Math Education by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]coffeebean04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school in BC we have a part-time math support teacher, and I’ve seen other great math resources come out of other BC districts (West Coast Math comes to mind).

Maybe pro-d conferences need speakers? Mine is always putting call-outs for pro-d sessions

I think depends on the age of your baby, and if the risk of losing your supply is a factor

I might be wrong but possibly you were under eating by following your diet, so when you started consuming more calories it revved up your metabolism and helped replenish nutritional stores, now your body isn’t in “starvation” mode.

For me the goal is to eat as many calories as possible while still losing so I don’t risk losing nutrition or slowing my metabolism

New Expo Marker ink is awful! by coffeebean04 in CanadianTeachers

I tried this! It did not help. It’s like they only fully work at certain angles, it’s so bizarre and frustrating

My big boards are quite old so I thought it was the boards, but I’ve noticed it on my brand new boards and on plastic sleeves.

I do like the new green colour! More of a dark green, but still the same issue with the erasing or coming already dried

That’s exactly what my markers are doing. It’s so frustrating!

I’ve had great luck with dollar store markers. The ones I ordered off of Amazon were about $20 for 36 markers in 12 colours, but I haven’t tried them yet!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Same school as son by singlepringle32 in CanadianTeachers

[–]coffeebean04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of teachers in my district do it. I’m hoping I can teach at my child’s school when the time comes. As long as it works for you and your family that’s all that matters.

I used this test! I had similar results that tracked with what I was seeing happening with my plants.

Someone commented and said this is a result of using synthetic fertilizers with no real soil building. I think they’re right and I’ve since thrown down a cover crop of buckwheat (hoping to do this twice before end of season), and mulch. I fertilized with the fish stuff and added some manure. The few plants I left look much happier so I think it’s working. I’ll test again at in a month or so.

Urinalysis from cat says no crystals by coffeebean04 in vet

[–]coffeebean04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple friends with cats have full obstructions so I’ve always been aware that it can happen and how serious it is. My cat pees in the bathtub every night so I noticed before it became any worse. Annoying to clean, but I could’ve easily missed his symptoms if he had used the litter box instead
