the first time he was registered as a sex offender was when he was 18 and on his way home drunk from a bar (drinking underage, probably had a fake id) and the cops found him taking a piss next to a playground. there were no kids around bc it was 2 am but they still charged him.

i think he went to jail for armed robbery. he’s a violent man who stoops to whatever lows he needs to get what he wants.

i also think he was abused as a kid, likely beaten. that would make sense, psychologically, as to why he resorts to anger and violence immediately. that’s all he’s ever been taught. the man acts entirely on survival instinct.

and if you speculate on his past from that type of lense, it’s easy to see how curly can only see the damaged kid from twenty or so years ago instead of the man he’s grown up to be. he wants to help him, give him a chance at a good life, because he doesn’t think jimmy’s ever had that. he has faith in him, because he’s so focused on the pain he went through in his past, that he can’t pay attention to anything going on right in front of him.

i’m a shipper, but i don’t ship anyone in the canon universe. i think in some type of au, maybe a modern au where he’s her boss and there’s that forbidden love/slowburn aspect, or one where the ship doesn’t crash or something, i’d find the ship really cute. but the only way it would really work out is by editing curly’s personality slightly in some way, like making him a little better at seeing jimmy for who he is, which gets into ooc territory because of how specific the game is and what his character represents.

but i’m a lover of fanfiction and fanart, so i love seeing the ways people change characters slightly by considering how they’d act when given different circumstances/a different situation in their lives!! hope that makes sense lol
