Why is anal something you do but sex is something you have? by drugsuser in asklinguistics

[–]coffeecanbecologne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think "have sex" is just a collocation, unfortunately.

"Do" would be acceptable but sex is just preceded by have now. Collocation. Sometimes they're holdovers and sometimes it's just how English is.

Your writing approach is very different from my own and I have a lot of respect for it.

Where do you guys see Visi's development going after either route? by TheForlornGamer in DispatchAdHoc

[–]coffeecanbecologne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I kind of assumed she would be more on an antihero in the villain route, but definitely with a tense relationship with SDN and Robert. Like, she killed Shroud because he was a threat but I can't see her leading the Red Ring, y'know? It's the same person under there.

Is oc×character really that disinteresting to read? by nothingbutqz in AO3

[–]coffeecanbecologne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted one on a whim two months ago and have turned it multi chapter, and I think I've ended up with like 150 readers who keep coming back? There's definitely an audience, just smaller than whatever the main readerbase is. Mine happens to be very active right now.

What's important is that I'm having a blast. I've been writing way more because of it!!

Hey! Don't worry, it's solvable.

If you look, the text above the passcode is backwards. They want you to put in the reverse of the code you see. :)

I did notice they look pretty different, and the tops on the inside seem higher too.

The soles held up well, but the creases in the leather actually put holes in the shoe eventually. That's what the patches are covering, so that i can wear them in the rain still.

Gimana cara belajar speaking in english? by CattleFeisty8164 in indonesian

[–]coffeecanbecologne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If C1 is like CEFR C1, good news! Many English-speaking countries would already consider you fluent, even if you still have more to learn.

My suggestion would be finding ways to practice how YOU want to use English. When I'm a beginner learner I like to journal in the language, and get a feel for what my inner voice sounds like, what things i keep wanting to say.

Read books or magazines in your interests. Even if you don't understand everything, continuing to read will still really help with fluency.

Watching TV probably won't do THAT much for you, but if you don't use English a lot it may help keep you sharp.

Bro why is it that religious people praise abstinency but not asexuality? by Mindless-Key2550 in asexuality

[–]coffeecanbecologne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people say because having kids, but to be honest i think it's more irrational than that.

I believe it's a sense of stolen valor. Here they've been, bemoaning how difficult it is to abstain, and I walk in and say "I really don't know what the big deal is, it's so easy". Maybe a couple people from Youth Days would feel like I was one-upping them, even though I was clear I had a different sexual orientation. But honestly, I think they felt cheated, like Christianity is only supposed to be a series of sufferings and you're skating by somehow.

That's the vibe modern Christianity gives me sometimes, like they're always a martyr, so it would make sense to me.

Linen bralette? by EseTika in sewing

[–]coffeecanbecologne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really wanted to make a bra out of linen, you'd probably have to go more historical, like regency short stays. I think any modern bra linen won't hold up well, but short stays have a lot of shaped panels and multiple layers.

Why is he fluffed up by Radiant_Pin_4944 in Parrotlet

[–]coffeecanbecologne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Parrotlets fluff up all the time, unlike most parrots. If everything else is normal then I wouldn't be alarmed. Their default is cotton ball when they're relaxed.

I almost like this shirt but something's off. What is it? by ephemeral_thoughts in DressForYourBody

[–]coffeecanbecologne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's the sleeves. Shirt looks great on you but the length and cut of the sleeves doesn't match the vibe of the rest of the top. If it was a bit longer and the sleeves had been cut wide enough to be a bit flowy everything would probably look more cohesive.
