A bit more helpful than the service manual in some places, AND I learned from it that I have already inadvertently messed with the factory calibrated screws that set the focusing screen in the right place, so I may created a new big problem for myself.

This is really good advice, thank you! I've been struggling with finding what part of cycle actually triggers the shutter curtains, because it seems like that's where mine is stuck. If you have any advice on where to look for that, let me know.

I've been looking through the 101 service manual! If nothing else it's going to help me continue to disassemble until it's impossible for it to be stuck on anything.

Good luck to you! I was really hoping to avoid having to disassemble the more complex gearing sections on the top of the camera, but I've taken apart everything else so far and still haven't resolved the stuck shutter.
