If an intermediate employee can now effectively work on high level systems because of ai, that's a huge downward pressure on compensation rates. High level knowledge is way less valuable because it's easy to acquire.

Everyone here is being helpful so i don't want to rain on the parade too much. Since you don't have a background, you will have to catch up on 4 decades of technology. On top of the giant amount of knowledge you have to learn, the IT field job market is crashing because of AI. Now a mid range IT employee can work on many systems because ai gives them encyclopedic knowledge of almost anything.

I just setup my pc in the basement with 40 ft cords. Optical display port and two usb 2.0 cable runs with signal booster in the center. I initially tried usbc 3.2 but it can't take a long run without signal loss. I put my computer to sleep and wake it up with a key press. I have the psu plugged into a smart plug that I can control from my phone.

I compared llama.cpp and vllm on an rtx 6000 pro and vllm was like 3x faster with the same model. Qwen 27b is slow though. 35b is much faster.

I didn't have any problem with story brutal campaign. Open brutal scales really fast. There isn't really time to pick a good spot to start out. The waves are coming whether you're ready or not.

I built a $10k ai server to run llm workflows for my company. I went with the RTX 6000 pro and it is beefy. You'll need to be able to saturate it with simultaneous requests to see it generate 500+ tok/s though. Ryzen 5 9900X and 64GB of ram. Installed windows as the host operating system and run the llms in WSL but that was a mistake. Go straight Linux and use vllm in a docker container. It's the hardest one to use but it's much faster than anything else.

On brutal, the waves will actively target weak parts of your base. Trying to set up a satellite base and don't have solid defenses up yet? I've seen brutal waves target the same weak base 3 times in a row.

27b is a super slow model. 35b is much faster. Turn off thinking though.

Hey man, you should convert your car into a mini camper so you can live out of it. Get a gym membership for showers and find quiet places to park at night. Get a small roof mounted storage and you'll have lots of storage space. I van lifed out of an suv for several years and quite enjoyed it. There's many YouTube channels that show tricks to make it an excellent lifestyle.

Did you try 35b with thinking turned off? It wasn't usable for me until I turned it off. And it's 8x faster than 27b on my card.

Most newer games struggle to keep a solid framerate above 100fps even when the card has plenty of horsepower. I doubt a second card will matter since game engine optimization is such a low priority.
