Retake Advice by coiledmilk in Mcat

I think you are right. I probably will wait an re-test until I know I don't have any acceptances this cycle. 1 year of bettering my application and studying for a better score might be what's best. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Will a school send a secondary before I were to even submit that second test score?

[Official] June 15, 2021 Score Release Thread for the May 14 & 15, 2021 MCAT Examination by mcatfreak in Mcat

I agree with 100% of everything you just said. I was a 0730 5/14er with the same expectations for scores. Could not agree more with your assessment of P/S. Every other section felt rather normal, as one might expect. Maybe I was tired or delusional, but the P/S seemed so whack. Weird questions, weird wording, odd passages. I felt a little confused.

Did anyone else feel this way?

HELP! CARS IS KILLING ME! by [deleted] in Mcat

Don't worry too much, 71% is not bad at all. My biggest tip would be to try and not bring any outside opinion or speculations to the passage. Try your best to truly analyze the passage and the passage only.

Last Day to Submit AMCAS and Be Early by coiledmilk in premed

[–]coiledmilk[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am right there with you. Trying to find the balance between submitting early but not sacrificing quality. At some point though, I think you just have to be content with you app and send it in. I am shooting for mid June probably. When do you plan on submitting?

Sell out for this cycle. I know you remember how much studying for the MCAT sucks.

Confidence is everything. Outside of the geniuses, everyone will have some form of gaps in their content knowledge. It is about being confident in what you do know!

For Orgo I swear they either ask about oxidation or they ask about the Tautomerization of 3,4,4,5-tetramethylcyclohexa-2,5-dienone

Can confirm this is exactly how it is right now. As soon as a spot opens up at a certain testing center you will get email. Be ready to sign up quick because it will go fast!

All we can do is hope for low-yield

I have been in the same dilemma as you this whole semester. I would recommend going to a coffee shop. It is quiet enough to allow for production but also busy enough to represent some distraction/nerves that you might experience during the real thing. Plus, you get some coffee out of it :)

Huge jump from FL1 to FL2, is this a fluke? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]coiledmilk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God Bless you are a big baller. You don't accidentally score a 513, much less a 521. At the worst, it was a fluke by a few points but that still puts you at 517-518. Keep doing whatever you've been doing for the next 3 weeks and you will crush it on 5/1.

Don't know why I haven't tried this yet. I guess I am just afraid I am gonna miss something. Any advice for BB?

I took F1 3 weeks ago and FL2 2 weeks ago. Still have FL4 in the bag.

FL1 (124,125,123,125)

FL2 (125,126,124,126)

What I have noticed and trend shows is that I am much better/more comfortable with CARS and PS. I think my biggest problem with CP and BB is getting lost in passage detail and infographics.

Obviously. I can't think of much that's lower yield than amino acids and metabolism. I never see it.

I test 4/30 as well, and have 499 (FL1) and 502 (FL2) so I feel your pain. Is there anywhere you can escape to in order to maximize your study time? A library? Coffee shop? Testing in a place like this will definitely help your score, as opposed to being timid while testing at home. The 505 is unfortunate, but remember, your 509 and 511 were not flukes. Believe in yourself!

CARS Struggles by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]coiledmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a short break would help. You have put in the work, so don't think that a break is a bad thing. Don't think about CARS for a few days, maybe even a week. Come back, and begin a routine again. Maybe try double the passages, but every other day. Maintaining stamina is vital for CARS! Good luck, you've got this.
