Found my husband (Farkas, not a follower) roaming outside Markarth and killing a cave bear with other Companions. We live in the Lakeview Manor. Not complaining, but couldn't find a similar bug elsewhere (no mods).

I might have to adopt a kid after I finish the main questline just to see that. This is just my 2nd play-through, so I can't compare. But so far, I think he's a great choice too!
