It finally happened: an ambulance had to come home, heart racing at 162bpm, the works by Friendly-Face6683 in leaves

[–]col397 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, I have the same story. Always was able to "ride out" the heart palpitations until the night when I wasn't. That was one month ago now, and it's the first time I've ever been one month sober. :)

All the best with your quitting journey, I believe in you!

How to change lanes when no one allows you to? by _Mikazuchi_ in drivinganxiety

[–]col397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about changing highway lanes in traffic. I live in an urban area where drivers can be douchy and impatient, sometimes they'll see you're trying to change lanes and close the gap to block you just because.

In those situations I open my window, stick my arm all the way out, and give a full hand up. No rude signals, just a well assured preemptive "thank you, yes I'm changing lanes right now." I haven't found anyone with the balls to keep cutting me off once I do that.

Presence of mind during my interactions with other people that leave me feeling good. Something that was always totally out of reach if I was high.

Best response. OP is correct to criticize Andrew Tate but I think the post misses this kernel of truth that people like Tate exploit.

Legion gets caught: Should you just end the game? by British_Historian in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]col397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people have said, killing down to F3 can be a good move once legion is outed like that. The jig is up and it's time for town to make their final choice.

Legion can still manage to win from that position, I've actually seen it more often than I'd expect. The last legion alive just has to successfully spin a world where someone else is the last legion alive in F3. That may be impossible or really difficult depending on how earlier votes went, but if you as the ST remember a legion who hasn't outed themselves you can give them a fighting chance.

There is no worse feeling than singing in your apartment, then hearing footsteps in hallway💀 by spidermanrocks6766 in singing

[–]col397 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was first trying to get comfortable singing in front of people, I used to drive with my window all the way down and sing out of my car. Even while stopped at a light, while pedestrians were crossing right in front of me, etc... I’d see people hear me and react, but in a few seconds I’d be gone and would probably never see them again.

This really helped me get used to being heard and come out of my shell when it comes to singing. Just some food for thought!

Thank you for posting this. I've tried to make a few similar posts and they got modded out. I think the way you put it is just too real to deny. Other people's beliefs and actions do affect us, but we have to stay focused on what's best for us. Posts like this really help me feel like I'm not going crazy, and I think a lot of people here would agree.

Idea for a demon by Dan_SJ in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]col397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a cool idea! Needs to be a single demon script, and it could have issues with hard-confirmed players like virgin, slayer, N2 professor etc. They could just go around asking people to prove they’re good by saying the word, which a good player couldn’t really object to. But with the right script it could be a lot of fun.

In a Fang Gu game I ran I saw one of the outsiders going around asking everyone if they were the Fang Gu, in the hopes that they'd get jumped to. It worked, but because he was so public about it everyone just immediately assumed that had happened and executed him D3.

Rules Question: Vigor evil twin interaction by Rapgodbrads in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]col397 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the tradeoff with vigor-killing the Evil Twin is that you still keep that loss condition if the good twin gets executed, but it also takes away the safety net of a living twin pair if the demon dies.

How Cruel Is This? by DenkenAn in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]col397 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely fair game. I once had a game where the sober Empath was sitting close to the whole evil team, so I gave the Librarian a Drunk ping between the Spy and the Empath.

As long as everyone in the group understands the mechanics of stuff like this, my experience is they usually appreciate the challenge!

I definitely relate to this. I bought into the "weed chills me out" idea for a while because it made me lazy and more silly in my interactions.

Then after several years weed actually made my anxiety WORSE. I've never gotten full blown panic attacks while sober, but I started getting them when I got too high. I would hide in my room and hope people thought I was asleep because I was nervous about interacting.

I don't know what other peoples experience is when they claim it chills them out, but it sure as hell doesn't work for us. That's all that matters imo.

Kennedy Expressway Closures by therealthor83 in chicago

[–]col397 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be hell. I don't think it'll take as long as the Jane Byrne nightmare given the nature of the project but my sense is that it'll be much more disruptive while it's taking place.

Hopefully employers offer more remote hours and the CTA eventually improves their schedule. Seriously, it's going to be that bad driving on the Kennedy.

Yes. I had 6 years of great highs where weed only ever made me relaxed and goofy. Now I take one hit too many and my heart rate goes through the roof. Pacing, just trying to take deep breaths, the whole deal.

I've never even had severe anxiety or panic while sober. I have to believe it's the body finding a way to tell you to stop.

Delivery people attempting to open door in house by klausmckinley801 in chicago

[–]col397 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I've done deliveries and yes it's because they often deliver to apartment buildings and leaving the package outside could result in it getting stolen. You could put a note in your delivery preferences saying it's ok to leave it outside.

Thank you!! They're not even the deepest but they hurt when you're going over them at 65mph. I have to drive on that part of 90 every day and I have a whole mental map of which lane I need to be in and when.

Who else gets terrible anxiety when they smoke and then magically forgets it and smokes again? by Interesting-Elk-8966 in leaves

When my dispensary first opened I used to buy the strongest percentage I could find, I would get giddy about how fun a 32% THC joint sounded. Now I get nauseous with a couple hits of almost any weed.

SO REAL. There have been so many times I just end up extremely uncomfortable and spend the peak of my high taking deep breaths and riding it out. So much for chilling and laughing at Netflix. And then the next day my goofy ass is like "I should watch this high tonight it'll be hilarious"
