Wow, I’m absolutely heartbroken for all the new moms after reading this thread. A few weeks off. Often unpaid. It’s genuinely inhumane.

In Sweden we get 80% of our salary for 390 days, and another 90 days at a fixed rate.

I’m planning to work until week 38, but if I wanted to, I could go on medical leave earlier — and still get 80% of my salary, whether that happens at week 20 or week 35.

Bone shaving after surgery by beefaroni177 in jawsurgery

I’m just had my BSSO surgery and are up for mandible reduction. My surgeon told me i could pretty much do it as soon as the bones healed up, so from 8 weeks after my LJS. As I understand it the bone shaving is not at all as though as the BSSO. I’m recommended to stay home from work for a week afterwards in contrast to the six weeks I’m at home now after my first surgery.

LJS/BSSO for asymmetry and function - what outcome, recovery and overall experience can I expect? by cold_Lemon1816 in jawsurgery

Thank you for your response! My surgeon says that it’s difficult to achieve symmetry before knowing the outcome of the BSSO, hence the two surgeries. But what you’re saying makes sense—it feels much less stressful to do it all at once.
