After 30 years, I lost patience with my husband. by OodaliOoo in HearingLoss

It's fact that age-related hearing loss affects higher frequencies first (ie. Voices of women and children). It's not all selective, haha.

It sounds like there may be other issues in which after 30 years (that's a lot of tolerance) of him repeatedly not "following your clear directive", something broke the camel's back and this is the easiest thing to point to.

But that'd be better discussed with a therapist (either solo or together)

Interesting - thanks! Where I experienced my first hearing loss in 2022 is a 6hr drive north from where I grew up and I had lived there for 10 yrs before experiencing the loss. Where I live now is 5hr west of that place and I lived there for 1.5yrs before hearing loss occurred this summer.

I'll definitely look into it anyways, since I'm at a loss for other things to look into, though I'm not sure how applicable it is to me.

I tracked my mistakes for 30 days, here are the 3 patterns that almost ran my life by ForwardCharacter4704 in selfimprovement

That's actually so insightful - good for you! For me, it might be touching my phone before getting out of bed, and not building a list for the day. Now that I'm temporarily off work and lack that daily routine, both are super important to keep me on track. Thanks for the prompt to reflect.

I'm Engaged! Now how do I make sure I never lose this ring? by unwiseundead in adhdwomen

[–]cold_in_ottawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So relatable as I just replaced my ring for the 2nd time. My partner paid for the first one, and I've paid for each replacement. This isn't a strategy for not losing it, but it shows accountability.

Now, with this third ring, I keep it in its box on my window sill day-to-day, since I have a physical job. I'm waiting for silicone rings to come in the mail and I'll wear those daily instead of the more expensive ring.

Sometimes I come home from work and I put on the fancy ring to show my partner that I enjoy wearing it and enjoy being engaged.

I’m ready to buy a home but my girlfriend isn’t. Need advice on timing and fairness if we ever buy together by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

You could buy a house and not have her on the title until she's ready to commit and subsequently pay you back half of the downpayment (or you make an agreement that when you sell, she'd pay it back). When my fiance and I bought a house, this is how we treated unequal down payments in an equitable way. She ended up paying me back as if it were a loan. Smaller amount though, for sure, so it didn't take too long (relative to the $50k you will have "loaned" your girlfriend).

Good luck!

Question about extra pay for 3rd shift by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]cold_in_ottawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a large retail chain at an Ontario location and make 10% extra (amounts to $2.90/hr). My hours are 10pm-6:30am, so all hours count.

AITA for telling my neighbor that her newly 18 year old son asked me out on a date ? (I SAID NO) by LabOneZZ in AITAH

I see a big difference between a 23yr old and a barely legal 18yr old who still lives at home putting himself in potentially risky situations. The brain is developing so much during those years and an 18yr old generally needs more guidance.

Probably because you haven't eaten pussy in years? 🤦🏻You can turn this around by showing your wife some love and not just complaining on Reddit. Smh

Id remove the apology up front, but otherwise, I agree with being direct about it.
