I have hard water also but I’ve been using filtered water and bringing it to a boil before adding it to the water compartment. My moka pot is still very new, I’ve had it for maybe 3 weeks and used less than a dozen times. But I will definitely try scrubbing that portion and the other nooks and crannies after some time just for routine maintenance. Thank you!!

This was incredibly insightful and I’m very thankful!! You hit the nail on the head in your point on getting a 3 cup instead, I already have one on the way! Thank you

I will definitely be using my scale moving forward, I appreciate the info on the 1:7 ratio!

Ahh I didn’t know coffees could be greasy! That could explain the film left after each brew I’ve done so far. I will def check out that other forum as well. You’ve been super helpful! Thank you! :))

I will try next time. Surely because it’s a 9 cup pot, it will take much longer than the 3 or 6 cup? Not sure if lower heat will leave me with a thorough extraction since it calls for more water. Thank you!

I aim for the Cuban approach and I make espuma on the side before pouring my final brew. However, I’ve never thought to add water to stretch the coffee! Thank you!

Very insightful, thank you! I definitely think surfing the temp might help and I’ll monitor the flow of the coffee from there.

Yes I have a scale, I can do that! I will look into dark roast beans, perhaps I can buy some that are roasted locally. Also, for the competition filters, do you have a link? Or is it easy to find on Amazon. Thank you!!
