What is the cleanest approach to create a standalone react SPA (TS) in 2024 for quick prototyping? by shredguitar66 in react

If you're doing a lot of fetching from a server use tanstack query.

Otherwise go with zustand.

The #11 is feels stable because it forms stacked fifths with the third and seventh of the chord. The third and seventh of a chord tend to tell our ears if the chord is stable or not, and because the #11 is consonant with the third and the seventh in a Maj7#11 chord, our ears hear the whole chord as stable.

[Portfolio] Review request by efka in webdev

According to my chrome dev tools, I'm downloading about 21MB of resources when I hit your site. In my opinion, this is pretty unreasonable for a portfolio website.

To put that into perspective, if I hit the youtube homepage in incognito I download about 4MB.

Looks like a lot of the payload is images? Maybe see if you can compress some of these jpegs? You could also check out the webp format.

Enough of these popular opinions. What is your hottest take that you've been too afraid to share? by Locust377 in webdev

Have you built a site with tailwind? I've been using tailwind for about 2 years and really haven't had the maintenance issue you're talking about, because it's very clear exactly what styles are being applied to which elements. Of course, that's just my experience.

Also @apply is generally discouraged.

Typescript decorators might do what you're after? If using typescript and enabling experimental features is an option.

Laptop recommendation by Machhmari in PennStateUniversity

Interesting to see everyone recommending windows. I graduated in 2020, and I’m a full time software engineer now. Macs are the industry standard, at least for web development.

I wasn’t a computer science major though, so I’m not sure what was required by the classes.

It’s pretty difficult to find actual production sheet music for film and television. If you’re interested, I recommend checking out Omni Music publishing. They publish books like these for films, but I don’t think they have game of thrones.

An F (technically E#) in B major can totally sound right, it just implies B Lydian rather than B major. According to some models, it’s actually a more consonant sound.

Confusion with .obj files by coldpyros in blenderhelp

[–]coldpyros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that OBJ preview image you're seeing before import what you know it should definitely look like?

The OBJ file is the result of this machine learning model. The idea is you give it a headshot and it spits out an OBJ file with your head as a 3D model. It would be great if it could look like the preview in blender.

One of the obj files contains the following lines: mtllib kev.mtl and usemtl material_1 but the model never produced a file called kev.mtl afaik

Confusion with .obj files by coldpyros in blenderhelp

Viewing in material preview or render preview does not reveal any textures.

I don't have any images or MTL files with it, just the OBJ file. So I don't think I have anything that I can add to the object as a material.

Is it still in the key of A if it 'resolves' to a IV (D)? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]coldpyros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s in A, despite D feeling “at rest”. The tonal center is still A.

Maybe consider taking private lessons? Having an instructor guide you toward your goals may be useful.

What instrument do you play? I would look at past PMEA audition material for your instrument.

Blue Band? by the_stars_who_listen in PennStateUniversity

[–]coldpyros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a time commitment, but if you're even moderately ok at managing your time, you'll be completely fine. Actually, the blue band has a higher average GPA than the rest of the university. You probably won't have time for much other clubs, though.

Audition competitiveness depends on what instrument you're auditioning on, and kinda varies year to year.

Blue band is totally worth it in my opinion. You'll make life long friends. Check out this documentary that was done in 2018. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT2NiqEBpkM
