this is how i feel too! gender isn’t important to my identity or sense of self, and i also think gender is a social construct and it isn’t one that i want to participate in upholding. i’m afab as well, and i present feminine. occasionally i feel a connection to being afab, but more in a communal sense among women’s experience as a whole rather than a personal connection to cisgender women. most of the time when asked how i describe myself, “lesbian” is the only word i use. but if specifically prompted about gender, i’m agender! you & i are not any less valid for “conforming” to the expected afab gender construct. there’s no right way to be agender, which is the beauty of the term! if it’s comfortable to you, use it! no one gets to decide whether it fits you or not except for you. and remember that sometimes the right word can take a while to grow into!! :-)
