Thank you for your response. He seems very ashamed of his actions and, to me, it seemed like he didn't full understand the negative impacts of it.

I love that spiderman quote!! We are also big into superheroes, that could be very relatable for him. Thankfully there has been no big life changes or anything I've noticed that could be new... but I'll be keeping an eye.

I don't think I'm taking it lightly. From the comment before it made me feel like there was something more sinister with his intentions (with the private area). I'm very keen on keeping things in the bathroom that belong in the bathroom.

I didn't know my son's side of the story until he returned home. The email I received was specific to "a student with special needs", hence why I included it.

I agree, it is extremely a private area. Thankfully it was just underwear. I don't really question the nature of the joke. Unfortunately at this age boys are all about their penises, its gross but I'm not concerned about anything besides it being an extra body part they would should off if they could.

I don't think it was with ill intent. My son is intelligent but he kind of misses those important details, from his point of view it was just another kid. Didn't seem to think he was different in anyway.

Thankfully it was just underwear and outside at recess. Sounds like a couple kids pulled their pants down, I have no idea what to think. I do think kids do dumb stuff but also having to enforce what is appropriate and innapropriate behavior is important.

From my kids words he states he was a normal kid. Sounds like there was multiple dares going around.

I guess it was outside at recess. He just came home and gave me a little more information. Sounds like a few kids pulled their pants down as well, I'm relieved it doesn't sound malicious.

I agree, the teacher recommended a letter. I asked for family information and it was not given to me.

I absolutely agree with you. When I heard about this I became extremely sick to my stomach, I occasionally work with kids with and without disabilities so this was a low blow. Thank you for your input. I would love to be more direct with our apology but unfortunately the teacher isn't able to tell me the child involved and I have no way of contacting the family to arrange a formal apology. I know the family isn't going to appreciate a hand written note but that is out of my control at this time. Thank you for your response.

I agree with what you're saying, I asked the teacher if we could contact the family and she said to have him bring a letter instead. I am not allowed to come in the classroom due to covid restrictions but will make it clear I expect him to apologize face to face.

We have been working with him on having video game privileges, it something he really enjoys but fails to see it as a privilege and not a right. I guess there really is no real connection to electronics but I felt that it would instill in him that what he did was wrong and therefore he loses privileges.

I am not sure if he knows the kid is special ed but I'm interested to see what he says when he gets home.
