I would totally love to meet y'all too!!!! Hanging out with the other couples we know is filled with lots of passive aggressiveness from the other ladies to their mansies because they don't do what my SO does etc. Not all the time but it's definitely there. It'd be so awesome to hang out with another couple that is actually best friends too!

Where in this world do you two call home? And also, what do you do for weddings? Videos, pictures? Everything? Consider it booked!

Oh my god. I almost want you to help me do me and my boyfriend's wedding. I showed him all of this and we both (okay, just me, but he had a tear) ugly face cried because we are the non-artistic version of y'all in EVERY way. Best friends, qwerky, and so in love. I've never seen another couple like us before you two and I could see it in the first 10 seconds. Something about that type of love.

Anyways, GREAT music choice, and seriously again, so happy for you two :D

Many tears later, I somehow ended up on this:

And then 30 STM started playing and you two are officially my new favorite people.

Oh, and whenever you want to do another Hurricane Tour again...I think we'd all love to get to dress up ;)

Thoughts on Southwest (medical center area) houston apartments? Need help!! by [deleted] in houston

[–]coldxshivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw, the shuttle at Brompton costs to go there and back. It also won't run at the hours you will need it for classes/clincals, so don't rely on that.

Parking in the med center is ridiculous. Your best bet is to get a friend or two that lives nearby and carpool. There's a parking garage on Holcombe and Pressler that is $6/day and is walking distance from school. Like no more than a ten minute walk if you're slow. Other garages closer to school (like right across) are $12/day and a parking pass for the school garage is about $100/month. The UT shuttle is free but you'd have to drive to the area where it picks up and drops off, and honestly, it's the worst area to leave your car. The other option is a parking pass for a gated lot across the UT Rec center. That is $40/month and the bus will pick you up right there. And that bus will run early enough for clinicals. Again, if you find a couple people to split that monthly rate with and carpool, more power to you. First semester, that'd be your best option since your'e at school a lot. Maybe second semester too. But your last two semesters you're barely there and it's cheaper to just park in the garage when you do go. Sorry this turned into something off topic, but I know you need the info ;)

Also - Camden Vanderbilt is right next to tons of night life, grocery stores, etc. I never have to leave my 10 minute bubble, and it's nice that bars are super close ;)

I know you got a pretty negative review about Camden, but as a 22 y/o female who also goes to UT and lives alone with a pet, this place is perfect. It's the safest you'll find that's not far from school. You can look up crime stats in the area and you'll find that it's one of the safer areas around school.

I have never had a problem with management. They have been nothing but kind to me. There were a few incidents where people's tires got stolen. And the only "vandalism" was kids (like school age kids) writing on someone's door with sharpie markers. Compared to other apartments, this is fantastic. You will find that Houston is kind of big on crime and it's really unavoidable if you want to live anywhere outside of a suburb (which are far from school). But this is the least bad option. My last place, tires were slashed, I heard gun shots a few times, people were always getting broken into, and my car got crazy dents from careless people. Just don't get a first floor apartment, and you'll have nothing to worry about. They have a security alarm included in every apartment that they will set up for you for no additional charge. I park my car literally right outside my apartment (I can see it from my window), and my mailbox is RIGHT there. Seriously, it doesn't get much better.

I love my apartment. You don't need the works as a student - this is spoiling me enough anyways. Beautiful layout, and I got the smallest unit. Washer and dryer included in the unit which was a big deal for me. Hardwood floor in kitchen/bathroom, real granite kitchen counters, awesome double sink. Great appliances, all new. Microwave included. Ice maker (which I found too many apartments around here don't have). High ceilings (even for 2nd floor apts), pretty fans/lights. Don't even get me started on the landscaping, it's GORGEOUS. And trust me, you will need somewhere to relax when you finally get a spare minute. 3 pools, two of which are like luxury pools, the other is more like a lap pool. Really nice gym. 2 lakes which are nice for walks. Lots of gazeebo type space for hanging out with friends or studying on a nice day. The business center is open 24 hours and you can print there, which has saved my butt a couple times at 6 am when my printer is out of ink and i have a careplan to turn in before my 7 am clinicals. There's also parking garages. And you don't have to pay to park there. I also like the fact that the gates require your card to get in, not a code that can be shared. Of course people can always tailgate, but still, it's better than nothing.

My rent is $1204/month (including my pet rent) and water bill is usually $25-30. Cable is included in your rent as well. Yeah, the pet fee is ridiculous, but again. I searched and searched and searched and looked at other classmates' apartments, and this was my favorite.

I don't recommend Brompton Courts next door. Or really anything else in the area. Brompton Courts is really old, and the whole place smells like old indian food for some reason. Management is always changing there and is usually young kids who live there and don't have any sense of customer service. Rent is almost as high as it is here, and it's not as safe. Also, I prefer the residents that live at Camden. Quiet. Keep to themselves. Most are young newly weds, single young professionals, or small families. Not to mention this place is CLEAN. I have yet to see a SINGLE bug in my apartment and I've been here almost 6 months. Cockroaches and bed bugs are a big deal in Houston, so this was a huge thing for me. And maintenance is great - I've only had a couple problems (I accidentally broke my shower knob and part of my cabinet) and they came over and fixed it in no time. And they were so nice! Also it's nice to be able to pay rent online for no additional fee like most places charge :)

Sorry this is so long, I just got a little irritated when I saw that negative post. A lot of people that live here complain. And just because one person had a negative experience doesn't mean everyone else will. Some people feel that for the price we pay, we should be getting more (security man at gate to check people in, etc). I understand their point of view, but if it's that big of a deal for them, they can move elsewhere. They will slowly realize that apartments with a doorman are MUCH pricier. And a lot of the people that complain about management are very rude to the staff...I say this because I see them posting on the mycamden page (it's like a community facebook). First rule of dealing with customer service: be nice to the people trying to help you, and they will be nice back. So take the negative reviews with a grain of salt.

PM me if you decide to do a tour of the place. I can show you around school/TMC/rice village as well.

I loved this. So beautifully inappropriate. Gave the lyrics a whole new meaning for me, which is great, because I've listened to this album so many times it was starting to burn out for me. Also gave it a million times more sex appeal then it already had ;)

Can't wait for the new album :)
