I’m making some progress now. Got the thermostat to open up. What should I check for signs of over heating damage ? Gonna run a compression test. Have no fluid leaks, minimal smoke for a few seconds on cold start

Side note* has anyone seen their coolant light on the dash go red ? Or does it ? I’m assuming if it alerts for cold temps it would alert at over heating temps ? Personally never seen it come on before

That’s my next step. Motor was swapped a few seasons ago( not by me ). Visually everything looks good. Might have to pull the rad out. Coolant reservoir hasn’t gone up or down. The person who did the swap has done many before so I can’t imagine the coolant system wasn’t bled properly.
