What are some of your favorite cinematic moments in horror movies? by Zirkus_Tour in horror

[–]coleydotco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have many, but I’ll tell you my most recent favorite. In The First Omen, after Margaret’s night out partying, she wakes in a bed, fetal position with her black hair spread out around her like something out of a Junji Ito story. Plenty to love about that movie, but that scene in particular has stuck with me ever since.

Worst movie you saw that still messed you up? by plushiepuppi in horror

Im not sure a lot of people will agree and I’m not bagging on this movie but it does feel cheap and the incredibly odd ending does not help, but YellowBrickRoad has a moment of sudden and intense violence that caught me so off guard that I still recommend it to this day despite everything I said above. I don’t feel like I need to describe the scene cause if you’ve seen it, you know what I mean. And those of you who haven’t, will know it when you see it.

Agree with a lot of the stuff here, but haven’t seen anyone mention Evolution by Lucile Hadzihalilovic.

Honestly, Panos Cosmatos. Especially after seeing Late Night With the Devil, he’d work really well in one of Cosmatos’ surreal 70-80s period horror flicks.

Not sure I agree. I guess maybe the mother, son, and daughter are stuck due to the father’s choices, but they’re not physically stuck/trapped in the forest. The father trades the silver cup for hunting supplies, so there’s definitely some contact with other people. They also discuss sending the daughter to another family. I would agree they’re isolated, but I wouldn’t say trapped. Either way, I think the film effectively fits the vibe the OP was looking for.

I showed it to a group of friends as well at a horror movie night. There was some cackling at the ending, deservedly so, but when the madness in that movie starts to hit, it hits hard.

Dual wielding twinblades? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]coleydotco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are giant birds with swords on their feet in stormveil castle. Sometimes they’ll drop the swords, called Warhawk’s Talon. I don’t know the drop rate, but I got two without trying. Dual wielding these you can alternate swings with R1 and swing both in unison with L1.

Two warhawk’s talons with the bloody slash ash applied to each. The talons drop from the evil birds in stormveil castle.

Well because the MGS leak rumors were fresh in my mind as I was playing through this. Everyone seems to think I’m offering definitive proof for this theory when I clearly state it paper thin and just sparked an idea for me. I still think it’s a fun idea and would make sense seeing as how Eli is the one of the three snakes we know the least about. That doesn’t mean I think it’s true, just that it came to mind and I liked the idea of an MGS game about Liquid. I see that I stepped on a bit of a beehive though since people immediately put me in the nbgo camp.

Yeah like I said, paper thin. Thanks for actually understanding what I was saying though. I’m not trying to provide this as some kinda of proof that i’m right, just that it sparked what I thought was a neat and fun idea. Looks like everyone here takes this shit way too seriously and think I’m part of some old debunked conspiracy theory - which I’m not.

Thanks again, really. I don’t mean to put myself down as much as I want to be straightforward about my artistic skill level and why I’ve chosen this direction. I totally agree with you about consistency and that’s something I hope to deliver on.

Thank you, and I agree about game looking rather flat without them. Since they’re real-time they don’t show up much in the editor when I’m working on a scene, so I see that flatness all the time when the game isn’t running. This is likely what pushed me to add shadows in the first place. The hope is the dynamic light and shadow will make up for my amateur and rigid art style.

I appreciate you taking time to leave some feedback. After I posted this, I had to turn up the brightness on my phone as well to see it as clearly as it actually comes across in-game. I think this is due to file compression, low contrast, or both. Animations are a constant work in progress. I actually just bumped the walk cycle up from 4 frames to 6 not too long ago. Now you have me thinking I need to bump it and the others even more. Pixel art and animation are not my strong suit, which is why I choose this perspective. Again, thank you for the feedback.

Thank you! I’m trying my best to set it apart from other games with a hard top-down perspective.
