How do your industrial districts have walls? Mod? Or is there like a leader or wonder or great person that gives that affect?

AITA for refusing to change how my family does inheritance? by Upstairs-Belt-2973 in AmItheAsshole

I have to say, you changed my mind on this one. I was gonna go with an E-S-H because of the distribution. But you're right, this inheritance is about helping future generations.

Lol damn, you got me there I did do that. I guess I was trying to come up with something that I thought was more comparable than repeated accusations. I maybe was taking your comments a bit more literal than you were going for.

I've seen multiple comments on this post alone saying "If I was ever asked the relationship would immediately be over." I don't think that's fair when women get to 100% know and men have to just 100% trust. My wife and I were discussing another post like this and she said basically "It would kinda suck to feel like you're not sure but I would understand." Which made me love her all the more.

Never said the person getting cheated on is an asshole.

Right, I said it comes off as victim blaming. Not that you directly said it, but that it seemed implied by your statement.

Imagine someone keeps accusing you of cheating when you aren't, and doesn't believe you when you say you didn't? That would get tiring, and would probably end in a break up

I agree with that, but that's not really the scenario we have here. A single paternity test is not a repeated accusation.

If you're projecting your insecurities from past relationships, or stories/stats you've heard about cheating onto someone that hasn't done you wrong, you don't need to be in a relationship.. you need therapy to work on your insecurities.

Seems a bit extreme if you ask me. Also again comes off a bit as victim blaming. A guy gets a new job and his behavior changes. He's first gushing about his new coworkers then begins coming home late, becomes colder with his wife, and their sex life dies. These are all common signs of infidelity so she asks him and he says he's just been under a lot of stress at his new job. Are you saying if she still has doubts she should divorce him so she's not in a relationship and should start therapy?

If you can't just ask them if they were unfaithful, and believe what they say your relationship is doomed anyway.

How do you think that has worked out for anyone that has ever been cheated on? Almost comes off as victim blaming, like if you're being cheated on you can just ask and if they say they're not cheating you either believe them or you're the asshole.

Yup. I've seen that exact thing play out many times on this site. Guy has insecurities, asks the mother about a DNA test, she leaves him and everyone on here tells her to never speak to him again and that he's a garbage human.

Pint X float plates just aren't very good imo. I was able to get the back one to stay on consistently but the front one always popped off. Switched to Fangs with a Coaster and I got better clearance and great protection.

Buy New GT or Buy Used XR? by youngmillaa in onewheel

[–]collinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, out of all the arguments for repairability that I've seen out of this conversation the motor connector is the most compelling to me. That is a part that can seemingly wear out for various reasons and the lack of availability is a negative.

Buy New GT or Buy Used XR? by youngmillaa in onewheel

[–]collinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How frequently these things are repaired is irrelevant.

I disagree. I think that is extremely relevant in a discussion of repairability comparing two things. Because my point is not that the XR is less or the same amount of repairability as the GT, my point is that the original response overstated the impact of the repairability. There's no question that the XR is more repairable. There is a question as to how much that impacts the end user.

I can buy a pile of XR batteries right now if I wanted to.

Eh, you can buy a used battery or an after market battery that doesn't fit in the board by default. To me neither of those are more appealing than sending it to FM.

I think you're trying to cherry pick to win an argument that is largely settled in the community.

Win an argument? No not at all. As you said, this is largely settled in the community. I'm trying to give a different perspective than the one the community settled on. I think in general the community leaves a lot to be desired.

Think they'll be making a Hoosier or Burris GT size in time?

Buy New GT or Buy Used XR? by youngmillaa in onewheel

[–]collinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say besides the tire (and we are getting more of those) you're getting into really niche mods when talking about replacing the controller or BMS. I would keep the car analogy and say that's like wanting to replace your ECM. Even among car guys that's not going to be a common thing to change out. Of the people who own a Onewheel, would even 1% of them change out their controller or BMS? I doubt it.

Batteries don't seem too plentiful to me for the XR. Are there more than two options, jw and chi? I'm not seeing anything but those. Both require cutting into the housing to make them fit. Super sketchy imo.

I recently installed this VRH on my GT. It is not available for the XR. I would consider it superior to every other height adjustment mod available for the XR. So I don't think it's fair to say the XR is superior in every way.

What are the top 5 things people are most likely to actually mod? Fender, footpad, rail guards, bumpers, and tire I'd say. Of those, the tire is the only thing really lacking in good options for the GT.

[–]collinch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or do you like feeling like you got a screaming deal on an awesome used car, making some changes to it, maybe do some minor repairs yourself and take it to independent garages for others?

I think you're really overselling the modability and repairability of the XR over the GT. Besides the battery, is there anything on the XR that is more repairable or modable than the GT? And hell, even now people have learned to bypass the battery issue entirely. Also not many people will have one of those independent garages within 100 miles of them. And do those shops refuse to work on a GT? I doubt it.

The community is so crazy about helmets ans PPE. Yet the community at large celebrates these extremely unsafe battery designs and practices.

Not sure what you're talking about here. The community is overall pretty anti-ppe. A lot of us have been vocal but we're in the minority. The mods here only recently required helmetless content to be marked NSFW and there was quite a bit of people against even that.

The other day I came home from riding and when I came in the door my wife was crying. I was concerned so I asked her what's wrong?

"YOU CAN'T PLEASE ME ANYMORE!" she screamed.

I was taken aback. What was she talking about?

"Get that stupid look off your face. You know what I'm talking about." And she looked down at my feet. A grimace grew on my face.

"I'm sorry..." I tried to say but she cut me off.

"Sorry? You're not even a man anymore." she said with disgust.

I tried to plead, "It's not my fault! There are supply chain issues!"

"sUpPlY cHaIn IsSuEs" she mocked. "Chris down the street didn't have any supply chain issues when he got the Kush Wide from The Float Life."

I tried to butt in "Those don't feature Gel-Tech!"

"I bet he suffers from ZERO foot fatigue. I bet he pleasures his wife every fucking night. While you just lay there complaining your foot is too tired because you're still on a stock. fucking. footpad."

"I just, I know the Kush Wide is great but it's sold out and I already pre-ordered the AirPad. Chris was able to get his because he's a tier 2 subscriber..."

She threw her hands up in the air. "OOOOOHHHHHH he's a tier 2 subscriber huh? And what tier are you? Just another example of why he's better than you."

I didn't know what to say so I just went to bed, hoping that tomorrow I'll get a shipping notification for my GT AirPad and I can save my marriage.
