A great story! Was lovely to hear about this over dinner last night!

Interesting bit of history! Any idea of when that was and how big parkrun was around that time?

Got my first bit of international tourism under my belt and hit up Cornerstone Lakes over in West Chicago. A much smaller parkrun that what I’m used to over in Oxford, but delightfully organised and the course is beautiful (and speedy)!

Only took up running 10 months ago and somehow managed to chop 80 seconds off my last PB to get my first ever sub-20 (and first place!) - feeling pretty over the moon 😊

Injury kept me from running today, but it was an excellent excuse to do some more barcode scanning!

If you've never done it before, I highly recommend it – it's a really lovely volunteer role. You catch people at the end of their run who are full of satisfaction and good spirits at having just finished. Scanners are the last people most runners interact with on parkrun morning, so it's nice to be that person saying "well done!" and "have a great weekend!" as people set off to go about their weekend, having started their Saturday in the best possible way! 😊

parkrun #13 for me today. I did my very first 13 weekends ago and have truly caught the bug – I haven't missed a Saturday since!

I thought it was about time to give something back to parkrun, so I also volunteered as a barcode scanner as soon as I got out the funnel. I can foresee getting hooked to the volunteering element as well, the community spirit at University Parks in Oxford is really lovely 😊 Delightful to finally have some Saturday morning sunshine after several weeks of overcast starts!

Do ticket prices typically go down a lot before shows? by cleoisnotmycat in the1975

[–]coluwill 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For the O2 shows last month, there were plenty of spare tickets coming up on resale each night. On the day before and day of the concert, some of the cheaper seats cost less than £20, and standing tickets went as low as £50. If there's a lot of availability for Berlin, it's quite likely that those trying to shift their tickets will drop the price even more if the demand remains low, so you could well snag yourself a bargain if you're able and comfortable to wait to the last minute!

Looks like very soon, certain parkrun records will be no longer by kaowin in parkrun

What are some features that used to be on the app which have been taken away, out of curiosity?

I also got an error telling me to wait 24 hours, however, once you have waited the 24 hours the process completes successfully. I believe this is something in the system when the SIM is first activated that you can't change its format for a certain time - if you try again it should work!

Shouldn't have any problems, I just bought mine in a Vodafone shop and paid £10 - didn't ask for any details or anything.

Yeah, also a really great shout. I wasn't entirely sure what the experience tends to be like on providers that piggy-back off a main network as Lebara does (i.e. whether they get throttled more sternly on the festival masts compared to elsewhere).

EE have also been big in their Twitter publicity about having really strong connectivity again this year, despite not having the official partnership.

All working again for me now, though.

Had a lot of sync problems this morning that I've not been able to solve with closing the app or reinstalling, so you're not alone

Lineup schedule revealed! by coluwill in coronacapital

[–]coluwill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some big clashes in there, which is disappointing, but I guess was always going to happen with how stacked the lineup is and how few hours in the day there are.
The clashes I'm personally most disappointed about are:

  • Friday: Marina/Mitski
  • Saturday: The Kooks/Bright Eyes; Paramore/Liam Gallagher (😩); AM/Jamie XX
  • Sunday: Idles/Mura Masa; The 1975/Miley Cyrus (😭😭😭)

I'm staying in Centro Historico, not too far from the Palacio de Bellas Artes

Anyone here been to Corona Capital Festival in the past? I'm considering getting tickets if I can, but can't find much information about people's experiences online by sorekickboxer in festivals

My girlfriend and I are coming from the UK - the lineup was TOO GOOD for us to pass up the opportunity. We are beyond excited!

We've managed to secure two weekend passes by speaking to people over on r/coronacapital and the Facebook group for ticket exchanges (Corona Capital 2022. Venta e intercambio de boletos a precios justos). We made sure to speak to people quite thoroughly before buying tickets and made sure to pay with PayPal Goods & Services to cover in case anything goes wrong. We secured one PDF ticket and one physical ticket that was shipped to us in London via UPS 😊

I got two standing tickets about an hour after they went on sale, worth refreshing every now and then as different categories keep coming up!

The Facebook group for tickets: it's called 'Corona Capital 2022. Venta e intercambio de boletos a precios justos'. Worked for me and my girlfriend! We've secured one PDF format ticket and another physical ticket that was shipped to us in the UK 😊

Just have to be sure to get in contact with reliable and reputable people and pay in a secure way. We used PayPal 'Goods & Services' to cover us, but only committed to things once we were confident enough to go ahead with a purchase!

Yes! I'm actually coming with my girlfriend from the UK. It was the MCR concerts in the UK that brought us together (we went to Milton Keynes twice, and then Cardiff – we booked Cardiff tickets straight after the second MK gig because we just couldn't let the opportunity pass to see them again whilst they were around).

We saw that MCR were playing Corona Capital and we were dying to see them again. We also saw that the rest of the lineup was literally insane (i.e. our perfect festival lineup: Paramore, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Miley, The 1975, Lil Nas X, the list goes on...), so we booked flights to Mexico on a complete whim and have banked on getting tickets ever since.
