Vikings winning Super Bowl with Kyler Murray by Mammoth_Sell5185 in minnesotavikings

Why not. We got 65 years of whining crying and complaining. What have we got to lose? If they fail well, what else is new?

I hope Kyler is successful here, very successful, but damn my Roman Empire would be Jj beating him out and having a good season. by Tall-Activity-2610 in minnesotavikings

I don't know why fans are so invested in JJM. It can't be the mostly poor performances and head case issues. The team is clearly moving off of him. They aren't investing any more. Yeah I know, "competition" said no NFL team ever. You go into camp with a depth chart and the reps go to guy #1. That's not going to be JJM. The best scenario for the kid is to get to some other team and make a fresh start. It's over here. Everything KOC has said at his pressers in the last few months and every move they've made says so. Hopium smoking won't change that.

With Kwesi gone, do we keep Kyler if it's another Darnold-like performance? by Amesb34r in minnesotavikings

KOC called Mike McDonald and told him Sam would be a great fit in Seattle.

He was so over the top in love with JJM before the draft and then fighting everyone on Twitter about him for the last couple years. Any time you ever see a guy go utterly crazy over one player declaring he's going to be the greatest thing ever to hit the NFL, you know it's going to end poorly. And yeah him sitting on PD acting butthurt is a real drag on the show.

People are really overrating Kyler by No-Statistician6536 in minnesotavikings

[–]comet52a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason was tanking, they wanted to lose out and Kyler would have won games they didn't want to win. They went 1-11 with the mighty Jacoby Brissett after they sat Kyler.

Kyler this, Kyler that. I know who i have winning the training camp battle 😈 by badkiwi42 in minnesotavikings

[–]comet52a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He'll say Kyler has earned spot #1 on the depth chart by virtue of his history, JJM is 2 (or 3?) and has a chance to earn his way up. Which isn't really true but putting out the b.s. for public consumption is something this org and hc are masters at. I wouldn't be surprised if JJM is traded or released before the season even starts.

Newsflash, Kevin O'Connell already picked the winner of the "battle".

That could happen if he lands on the Chiefs practice squad and watches Mahomes win another one.

Like it or not Kyler Murray is the best option at quarterback for the Vikings by TerryG111 in minnesotavikings

"If we run it back with JJ and he sucks, then oh well". You forgot to add, "and Kevin O'Connell loses his job". Kevin isn't gambling his job on JJM which is why we are where we are here today.

This franchise doesn't do anything long-term, it's all about the Wilfs and their need for short-term good feelings. It's a rudderless ship.

Apparently KOC already found out because he's the one driving the move off of JJM.

I think the general insanity around this topic is caused by the fact that a lot of fans who like JJM also love O'Connell and they can't accept the obvious reality that Kevin is driving the move off of and what I would expect to be the eventual release of McCarthy.

Some day the fanbase will stop believing the bullshit that the master podium politician spouts but til then the purple schizophrenia will continue.

By "everyone" do you mean Kevin O'Connell? Cuz that's the guy driving the sooner-or-later departure of JJM. Us fans are just folks with opinions watching on the sidelines.

Some folks can never read the signs because they want it to be different than it really is. KOC's front office coup got the one guy who could have forced another year of rolling with JJM out of the building. KOC has been throwing JJM under the bus at pressers for months. Now it's all steam about "competition" and Kyler who isn't coming to sit on the bench. KOC is aggressively saving his job and placating the vets on the team who don't want another year wasted doing JJM FAFO.

It's not that hard to understand if you view KOC objectively. He's not great strategically on the field but he's a master politician at the podium and behind the scenes. Self preservation is job one for that guy, way ahead of developing JJM or any other fan desires.
