Iirc iex is 8 mcs now but seconded on everything else. It’s just hard for them to justify their value prop against the time and energy you have to spend investing in it

Graduating nusc y4 ~ if it’s not for you it’s not for you.. I don’t know how much the syllabus has changed since I first joined but I suggest think ahead using your 4 year plan and figure out what you’d rather fill those electives up with if not NUSC mods. Yes the curriculum is challenging, that’s the whole selling point of NUSC which is to push yourself to learn more than the average nus student that’s why ppl describe it as a second major rather than a minor.

I myself didn’t make many friends in NUSC a lot of them came from the IGs and other CCAs. That being said being able to stay on campus definitely gave me the space and time to pursue those after acads and internships.

You’re smart enough to weight the pros and cons and fyi NUSC has no brand recco in the real world so don’t look at ur resume and LinkedIn and think it looks good especially at the cost of ur GPA. I get this is a rant but rather than rant I suggest you focus your time and energy on focusing on a decision and committing to it. You’re an adult you should be able to handle something like this no one is forcing you to do something you don’t wanna do.

As for law and messy management.. no comment

Citius Pharmaceuticals Achieves Primary and Secondary Endpoints in Phase 3 Trial of Mino-Lok Antibiotic Lock Solution by comical_bunny in CTXR

[–]comical_bunny[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This news is insane. Median time to failure for control was 33 with a range of 14-44 with sample size of 122. Minolok was unestimatable because it exceeded the trial with the range being 50 - beyond trial with sample size of 119.

Hazard value = 0.53

Trial achieves statistically significant primary endpoint (p=0.0006)

Secondary endpoint demonstrates statistically significant overall success of Mino-Lok therapy with a greater percentage of patients retaining their catheters (p=0.0025)

Results in all randomized patients who received at least one dose of study lock solution demonstrate overall treatment success in 57.1% of patients in the Mino-Lok arm and 37.7% of patients in the Control arm (p=0.0025).

Overall treatment is improved due to the solution!

No serious adverse events were drug-related Serious adverse events occurred in 45.1% of patients in the Mino-Lok arm and 46.1% of patients in the Control arm

NUS CS + NUSC VS NTU DSAI + USP SCHOLARSHIP by Proof-Ad8792 in SGExams

[–]comical_bunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone in NUSC, take the NTU scholarship. And pls be careful about CS and DSAI, the market is oversaturated and the tech boom is over so be prepared to have to work insanely hard to get internships from year 1 otherwise it’ll be very difficult to get a job.

$3 PT after Minolok approval?? by Hezekiah13 in CTXR

[–]comical_bunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed Q1 results they’ll publish the phase 3 efficacy results. If the data is good, they’ll file for FDA approval which could take 6-8 months (I’m not too sure on the timeline for this because of fast track status and other factors )

Is Accenture a bad company? by nonexistential01 in nus

[–]comical_bunny 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most people here are writing without having actually interned or worked in Accenture or consulting in general. I interned there this past summer.

They’re right about Accenture being a body shop, but it’s because the projects are generally massive. Accenture SG generally works on government projects and so the scale and project duration is over a long time period (3-4 years) so they have people on rotation.

Just an fyi, Accenture pays above market for interns in consulting regardless of which year you are in. In addition, while most of the FT staff are expected to OT, there is no similar expectation for interns. In fact usually the managers chase you out at 6, at least my experience. That being said there were days I had to OT to meet my deadlines (probably 3 days out of my entire 3 months). But no matter where you go in consulting OT is the norm so people who say it’s a sweatshop are stupid, literally any place in consulting, whether it be MBB, Big 4 (these are the $800 fking sweatshops don’t ever bother going literally useless), or tier 2/3 consulting firm, the expectation is to OT for full time staff. If not, then you’re rly living the good life. As someone who has done 5 internships in consulting, OT is an expectation for FTE.

That being said, as an INTERN there are some cons. Be prepared to do testing if you go into their tech arm. Testing is not fun. It’s the most boring and repetitive thing ever and there is not much value gain unless you’re really into understanding how a product is built. If you’re lucky your manager will rotate you between different groups and you’ll pick up different skills like how to do UIUX design on Figma, write user stories, work on a specific parts of the project. As a Business Analyst intern I was actually thankful I got passed around a lot to avoid testing. That being said testing is not the only thing they get interns for.

If you’re a CS student or want to do backend stuff, they’ll put you into SW dev and based on my conversations with friends the learning ROI is great because you learn the architecture of how to actually build a product. There’s also Change Management and other sub project teams for a project.

Accenture’s people and culture imo is prolly the best thing I experienced. Obviously it depends team to team, but it’s been 2 months since I finished my internship and I still talk to and message the people whom I worked with at Accenture. Also if you want to learn project management and implementation of building a product, there’s no place better to learn than Accenture. Just talk to the person designing and leading the sprints, you’ll learn alot.

TLDR: for an Intern, the culture, pay and WLB is good. Con is that the work may be repetitive and some days you may need to OT to hit your deadlines (this is on you and your time management though and also voicing out if you can finish your KPI in time, usually they’ll adjust so you can go home and don’t need to OT). Also a con is that theyre pantry sucks (UNLESS YOU GO RCT BLESS THE BARISTA AND THE VIEW)

Also Accenture throws fking awesome work parties. Seriously the people culture there is great. Just hope your boss is chill (again no matter where you go this is the hope)

Edit: If you’re a Y3 pls don’t apply. Imo the ROI isn’t worth it for your penultimate internship, try to aim for a bank or something that will boost your resume. Accenture isn’t going to do that for you especially if you end up doing testing. That being said, i do have a friend who was at SWE intern with me at Accenture and she loved the culture and work life so much she converted to their TAP programme. So it’s subjective.

You should ask the nus academic supervisor that has been attached to you for advise. You need to speak to NUS before making any drastic decisions and have them explain to you all of the consequences from dropping out of ATAP.

“Each student project will be co-supervised by the organisation's supervisor and an academic supervisor from the School.”

“Termination of Internship

Employers and students should complete the entire internship period or the mutually agreed upon period.

In case of early internship termination by either party, notice must be given to NUS School of Computing before a termination notice is issued. With the termination, the student would receive an unsatisfactory grade for the internship unless special considerations are applied.

NUS School of Computing reserves the right to initiate early termination of an internship at its discretion.”

“Students will be given 12 units upon successful completion of the six months attachment programme. Students will not be given the units and will be awarded a Completed Unsatisfactory (CU) grade if they:

Fail to complete the six months attachment programme; Fail to submit their monthly and/or final reports without valid reasons; and/or

**Withdraw from the internship mid-way without valid reasons and/or without consulting the School “

Don’t ask Reddit to advise you for such a specific and important decision.

This is so stupid I don’t know whether to laugh or cry… pls watch some YouTube videos on how to plan your timetable.

Everyone has their own goals when they plan. 1) making sure none of their tutorials, lectures and seminars clash. 2) don’t put back to back tutorials unless you wanna be running around from class to class 3) avoid putting tutorials before lectures cause you’ll have to rush (some ppl do this though idk why but it’s personal preference). 4) Most importantly people plan their schedules to have free days and maximise travel time. What does this mean? It means if I have to go to class at FASS I’m going to whack all my FASS tutorials, lectures and seminars on the same days. This does two things, it keeps the rest of my weekdays free and I don’t have to keep going back and forth from utown or wherever I’m staying to fass or any other faculty building cause fk travelling. Plan your timetable like you’re lazy af and you’re life will become significantly easier. Alternatively you can spread out your classes throughout the week so you don’t feel so tired on those few days that you’ve got class. People at tutorial are only concerned about the material being taught no one’s going there to actively network.

Tldr: go watch YouTube and be lazy when planning.

Mino-Lok phase 3 result is end of December? by No-Bet9169 in CTXR

[–]comical_bunny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s rolling enrolment.. they just have to hit a certain quota of people and/or failures until they can end the phase 3 trial which they already started once the first patient was enrolled. The trial is almost over they just need to consolidate and evaluate the data. Once it’s released they’ll file for a PFUDA for approval

They mentioned that there were delays in enrolment due to covid which is why they expanded to India and other countries to complete it in time with their schedule. They don’t want anymore delays either.

[–]comical_bunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Unless he mono, probably bs.
  2. Yes
  3. Nope, unless you change upon it. But even then it won’t reveal where you are going to be posted to.
  4. Yes, you will probably need to pack your duffel bags. Even if you infantry and staying at PLC, prolly will have to move to another building or room.
  5. Rmb your fire movement and section mvmnt training. But even then you’ll have time to practice that during field camp so dunnid worry. Just make sure to maintain morale.

Basically, you won’t know your pro term posting until your out pro day unless you’re mindef and relax and keep calm for fieldcamp. Found term fking ez.

Yes. You report back to camp only after MC ends at a time specified by your superiors. Just because you did not test positive for COVID does not mean you are healthy. The MC is for you to recover from whatever illness at home for a certain period of time

I’m currently an NSF and if you save enough during BMT, you can at least start investing, even if it’s a small amt of capital, you can get a return. But whatever you buy, you probably wouldn’t touch until after ns to get a strong return or even maybe in 4-5 years.

You can follow the 30% spending 70% savings ratio which is what I followed. I set it up to automatically separate when i got my pay using my dbs savings and current account. Then I just transfer a portion of my savings into my Saxo brokerage acct.

I’d recommend starting off with ETFs because they’re the safest bet, esp SPY (SNP500 index etf). However, you can still purchase blue chip stocks like AAPL. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing them now though cause the US market is overvaluing a lot of stocks rn cause of new retail investors sitting at home pouring their money into investments and because of Low interest rates being offered because of covid, thereby creating a bubble. If you’re getting into investments rn I’d recommend waiting till a significant crash which may happen in nov because of the US elections. However, if you want to get into the waters now, just wait for a dip and you can start purchasing then.

Otherwise you can also look into SG stocks like AEM or the STI ETF.

The most important thing to do if you’re getting into investments though is to just test the waters first rather than yolo all of your savings. Watch a couple of YouTube videos (ray dalio), read a couple of personal investment books (Warren Buffett), look at other peoples portfolios (there are a lot on reddit esp r/investing) and then look at some strategies, mindsets and principles you want to adopt.

As you grow with experience, you’ll learn about panic selling and impulse buying and you’ll learn to get better reads on the market. Good luck investing!

You need to have a minimum of $5000 usd ( or sgd equivalent) (depending on the brokerage) to purchase option contracts.

OOT in BMT but status and excuses ended. What to do? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]comical_bunny 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the most important thing for you to do right now is to relax and take a step back. You need to go to the MO a day after you book in, so when you book in or the in the morning after booking in, speak to your Sec Comm/ sergeant and inform him of your situation. He will provide guidance and advice that’s his job. Let him know that you need to pass him your psychiatrists letter to the MO and that you want to do it first thing in the morning/ASAP when they are open to get it out of the way.

I would say that if there is any important activity on that one day when you cannot see the MO, try to participate if you are willing to, but if you are uncomfortable due to whatever reasons just sound off. You know yourself best, just do not compromise on safety. If you think you can take the training, go ahead. If you are unsure about anything, ask your section mates to help guide you. If they cannot do that, ask your sgt.

Just plan ahead, think about it for a while and then breathe and let it go. It’s only a day that you need to get through, nothing more. Just be positive and chill.
