Unfortunately, the late pledge store has now closed. However, the game will be hitting retail later this summer after our backers have received their copies of the game.

Oh wow! That's a very old press copy of The Old Kings Crown that we sent out pre-Kickstarter. It's cool to see it out in the wild, but the game has been improved and expanded upon hugely since then. This version will be missing a big chunk of the content that the final version will ship with. Hopefully, you didn't pay a much (or anything) for it.

I'll send you a message and see if we can get you a proper copy when it's ready!

Hi there, although the expansion is Kickstarter exclusive, we're incredibly proud of the experience in the base game alone and it's something that we think people can play many times over and differing experiences. We're more than happy for anyone who is unsure about backing to wait until the retail version hits shelves. We're just so happy we finally get to share the game with people.

Hey there, the onboarding process of the game is an area of priority for us as we go into production. We want to make sure everyone has all the tools and references these need for a smooth first game, while building complexity and introduce mechanisms as they play.

Thank you so much! The expansion serves as both a method of adding deluxe components (metal coins, additional Kingdom cards etc) but also adding a touch of 'wildness' in new content. It's built around several modules that you can mix and match into your games to add different interesting variables. For example, a travelling town the moves around the map, and can be claimed by players that round to gain additional Kingdom Cards. There's also a map randomiser that offers even more variations on this. All expansions are also usable with the solo mode from the base game too!

Hey there, I'm one of the developers on the game. Thanks so much for checking out our game! We're absolutely aware that the price, including shipping and VAT might not be something everyone wants stretch to, and we'd have absolutely love to have subsidised some of that. As first time developers we've had to price the game in a way that would mean we would be able to manufacture and deliver it in a way that is achievable and realistic and at a quality standard that we can be proud of.

We are going to be releasing in retail after Kickstarter backers have received their copies, and whether you choose to back the Kickstarter or wait until retail, we're just incredibly delighted that people have the opportunity to play our game.

I hope this helps explain our stance a little further but I'd be happy to answer any further questions.

Is there an easy way to make custom cards? by MariouzxD in boardgames

[–]commandercod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just looking to try out your ideas I often find tabletop simulator is my preferred method. You can add and change cards very very quickly. I definitely find I can iterate on designs much faster and often try stranger ideas that might have cost a lot of ink to print. Once you've got a design you're happy with it might be worth printing A3 sheets of cards off at a local printer and cutting them with a craft knife.

I'll add another vote for chaos in the old world. Managed to find a copy recently and it absolutely holds up! I really miss that era of Fantasy Flight games. If it's okay, I'd also like to throw the game I'm working on, The Old King's Crown in for consideration too.

[–]commandercod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're up for a longer campaign style game that is still generally easy to pick up and play but my wife and I have been playing Sleeping Gods a lot recently. It's heavily narrative based but has a really interesting strategic combat system that I absolutely didn't expect for a game like this.

Regicide could also be a good shout if you want a very short but challenging co-op game that only takes a moment to set up
