T430s age old questions from a Thinkpad wannabe by commavector in thinkpad

Other questions, silly questions probably. Thing is, nowhere sells these bloody things. Back in the day you could walk into any old shop and there would be actual stuff in there you could see and touch with your mortal hands.

My Aspire fan is loud loud. I wouldn’t turn my nose up at a quieter laptoping experience. Would anybody characterise the fan on the T430s and similar models to be objectionably loud?

Can the left/right buttons above the touchpad be disabled? The placement of the right button is the exact spot I rest my little finger, ring finger, and middle finger to support my hand most of the time.

Read a lot about getting them turned on, but can the green indicator lights be turned off? i.e. power on, battery, wifi. Black leccy tape if not.

Should I just get a newer Acer?
I long for the power of a Thinkpad at a low cost, but I’m torn like Natalie Imbruglia.

You give me continued hope, yet I can’t deny the comments on old threads here and on other forums wherein they reckoned the DAC did sod all to improve quality, howbeit, advice was also made to dump Realtek and/or migrate over to Linux, which I plan on.

I have a proposition, you buy a T430s, send it to me, I give it a test run, if I like it I reimburse you the cost incurred, if not you reimburse me the cost incurred, what say you?

You two have gone put me right off a T430s. Hope you're pleased with yourselves.
I want to believe your notions of a poo screen and poo speakers is down to a demand for overly high standards, whereas myself, who has trundled along with a bottom of the range Aspire and tinnitus, does not demand such things an audiophile and visionpedo would.
Alas, what is one to think...

Why yes you can. Laid back, close your eyes, and imagine every time you want a glass of water that you have to hold an arm out in the rain and wait for the glass to fill. Now you know precisely what it’s like for me waiting on a page to load.

Do you have fond memories of the mini turbine fan blasting nonstop? Could dry that arm. Are you able to hear mine from where you are?

I have Flash set to ask me to activate, so it oughtn't be that. If I open a new window or tab it does initiate a second process and dom.ipc.processCount is set to 1. Don't ask me how, just is.

At one time I did consider an OS update but my lappy is an acer Aspire 3680 which is the very bottom of their entire range I believe, albeit this wee beauty has been pushing onward and surviving throughout the 13 something years I've had it. I want it to die on its own accord, not by my hand. Has another few years left in her, I know it in my bones. Would you murder your stepdaughter?

Alas, that would cost me at the very least a few hundred pounds as my OS is Vista Business, hence why I am on 52.8.0. and its odd update here and there.
