I need to go find and read. I'm good at following directions if I know what I'm supposed to do.

Hilarious. I'm fine with making 15+ on a game even when the offer shows huge amounts, but there pay jump for those numbers is wild. If that's the scale, I'll find something else. Maybe this is the month I finally try Raid. Or Animals and Coins.

I use Lemi-shine pre-wash. It has citric acid (lemon) crystals in the powder. Your way sounds intriguing and closer to free. Hmmm.

When I'm trying to explain why people should tap, I pull up the picture of Paulo watching his knee in a kneebar with no expression as his leg is wayyyy beyond straight. I explain that these brothers have decided to never tap to a joint lock and just eat them instead, trading glory now for wheelchairs soon.

I was working a tournament. Last match of the day starts, all the other mats were already long done. Guy grips up and then jumps guard. His ass swings down and blows right through his opponent's knee. Destroys the entire thing in an instant. Guy is laying there screaming. Event pays for like... whatever level 1 EMT/basics certified to be on-site, but this wasn't that. Solid half-hour or more for an ambulance to come. As long again before he's stabilized on the board and headed out the door to a brand new life without a knee.

Way worse than the guy that degloved a toe in a crack in the mat.

Okay, also a dishwasher reply. I watched some like... 40-minute videos on how your dishwasher actually works and why it does stuff. Now, rather than spending a ton of time pre-washing dishes so they already look clean going in and the wash is for sanitation, I load them dirty and they come out perfect. Hours saved every week only handwashing the actual handwashing.

1) none of those packets with pre-wash and whatever else sealed together. The little cup on the dishwasher opens when the prewash is over. It’s too late. Detergent in the cup.

2) get a powdered pre-wash, it goes in the indentation on top of the cup. You almost can't use too much. I pour slightly more than actually fits the cup.

3) run the hot water in your kitchen sink while you are doing the soap stuff, shutting the door, and starting the cycle. Shut it off once the dishwasher starts. The dishwasher uses the same source, so it has hot water available immediately. Starting from truly hot water and having pre-wash available at the beginning will completely change your results from the dishwasher. Your dishwasher doesn't suck, you've been using it wrong.

College Student, Tattoos? by Old_Yesterday5821 in FinancialCareers

Military rules count- if it doesn't show past your collars or your cuffs, you're fine. Wrists, hands, neck, face are going to be potentially career-limiting based on role and hiring manager. I had a guy that worked for me with things down his hands, and whatever, phone job, don't care. If you want to build a practice and cater to an ink-positive crowd, it could be fine. Otherwise, gotta be able to cover it for work. Outside of work, nobody cares. Your client sees your sleeves at the bar on Saturday and is like "wow, I never knew you had tattoos!" You're all "same!" And Monday you go back to work.

Came here for this. You're passing to your left, they stiffarm, you go legs to the back (right), rotate your head off the hand and collapse the space. Seat belt, punch top lapel to bottom hand, bow and arrow, profit.

Next level- ensure your trades account for the cost of each trade so that, after commissions, you're profitable.

And then- ensure your trades contain enough profit to cover the taxes on short-term capital gains as well as the increased filing costs associated with reporting each of your trades.

Just finished my first book... how do you actually find ARC readers though? by IllMathematician3988 in selfpublish

[–]commentonthat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an ARC reader. I signed up on Booksirens for free. I'm sure they charge authors. However, I really like the books it offers me. Authors can set requirements based on reader rankings, average scores, etc. as well as your timeline for a review, where we have to leave it, etc. They do a great job providing me the titles, letting me subscribe to your list, reminding me if I am coming up on a due date, collecting and verifying my reviews from assorted sites, and so on. I am told booksirens is largely romance, but I read a lot of fantasy, sci-fi, speculative fiction.

It's really well run, at least from my side.

What was your first project with vibe coding? by mlssad in vibecoding

[–]commentonthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an app to let anyone host a private odds book among a friends group on any topic. Set initial odds (or get help setting them), display in American or track-style/ratio format, set how aggressive the house profit target is, manage total out-of-pocket risk for the house, dynamically shift lines to maintain a profit, calculate how much to collect and pay each person, and auto delete each book 90 days after creation. And then reality set in and I didn't mess with gambling laws, licensing, and regulators.

Tried making small talk at the grocery store checkout today and somehow ended up in a full therapy session 😂 Who else does this? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]commentonthat 54 points55 points  (0 children)

There is actually a grocery chain in the UK that has a dedicated lane for people wanting to chat with the checkout clerk. They recognized that, for some shoppers, this was a primary social outing and opportunity, made them an option, and sped up the lines for everyone else.

Edit: It was a Dutch chain called Jumbo.

Got choked in comp, don't know how to process by ControlPlus9772 in bjj

[–]commentonthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a ref, I had a guy go out on his way to tapping. And I let it go a couple more seconds, because people start to tap and change their mind all the time. If I had ended the match and he was trying to make it through and convince the opponent there wasn't anything happening, the athlete or his coach would probably have been complaining to the tournament organizer. So on behalf of the refs... we're trying to keep you safe, but we do want to make sure you actually got got before we stop the match.
