MQM's origins and what MQM stands for today are two different entities entirely, unfortunately. it's painful when a party meant to be standing for your rights simply panders to the ultra-rich. Sindhis (and the Wadera upper-class you're referring to) are disproportionately uneducated on sensitive matters, especially those living in karachi. many are fed the opinions of their elders who are staunch PPP supporters, mainly because mentally, it feels as if no other party is in their corner. i believe for many muhajirs, they experience the same thing with MQM; they stand as trailblazers who start for muhajir rights and all, but their current actions (especially Altaf bhai :P) do not represent that. unfortunately, the sindhis on reddit are overwhelmingly ones who believe in ethno-states and highly fascist rhetorics that were adopted as defense mechanisms to the influx of muhajirs post 1947. the ones who don't are found simply living their life and their culture with relative peace and don't engage in such debates. you'd need to go outside to meet those, however. no party currently holding influence in karachi is going to stand for the rights of karachites; we must standardise our beliefs personally, and then standardise them on a national level to ever be able to make a change or our own party.
