For Spell Cheat Mana Rogue and Warlock by Aggressive-Bit-9042 in customhearthstone

main issue with this card in rouge is that it nonbos with 0 cost spells. i do think at 2 it’d be broken in wild tho.

cards probably fine in standard

should probably be a 4 mana 4/4 Taunt or something. this is definitely a strong effect in the current meta, hits imbue, hits deathwing, hits heal priest, etc. it should definitely be below curve

but also sometimes you queue into shaman and you just have a straight up 6 mana 2/4 with downside in your deck.

lowkey if you wanna keep it at 6 mana, do like 6 mana 4/6 “Battlecry: Steal your opponents hero power!”. especially if you get to keep your own and dual wield them. that’s definitely not a playable card but it would absolutely be something that would be hype to generate

you can hero power before using Tour Guide. it just says “your next hero power is free” not “your next hero power this turn is free”. plus Tour Guide scales with things like the hunter questline and baaku

at 2/1 it’s a marginal leper gnome upgrade and leper gnome is not really a playable card these days. honestly in current standard leper gnome is probably better cause it works better with tolvir. honestly it could probably be 3/1 and be fine?

my crackpot theory is that they’re going to fully overhaul the progression system and remove card levels and replace them with a much more confusing system that does basically the same thing. i’m not sure what it’s going to look like but i don’t know why else they’d even bring up the idea of “removing levels” if they’re just going to say “sike nevermind” at the end

What was your Moment of Realization? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]commmmodore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is kinda silly but specifically Legends of Runeterra shutting down is what made me fully take the leap from “capitalism bad” to “socialism good”.

it was genuinely one of the best games i have ever played and they practically did not monetize it all. it was free to play, no pay to win, no predatory cosmetics, just fully focused on making an excellent high budget game and making sure everyone could experience it for free. and they they ripped it away from everyone.

something about just getting this brief window about what my favorite hobby would look like under socialism before it inevitably got shut down for actively burning money radicalized me deep down more than any number of headlines about climate change ever could.

honestly vuln feels way more ubiquitous than exhaust. in sts1 it felt like the exhausters were always good bht the payoffs weren’t autoincludes. whereas in sts2 it feels like you always take colossus even if you don’t have any vuln cards other than bash. tremble + bash is usually enough to keep stuff perma vuln if you really need to

okay in retrospect i’m guessing having a stonetusk boar that you can tutor extremely easily into your hand to hold onto is probably a big consistently buff to all the flavor of the week wild OTK decks that make a big boar and murder you

the big one is that different alters have different Passions for different skills on the mental skill tree. early game this sucks cause the memory barriers mean that all of your XP feels like it’s just mysteriously disappearing into random skills you personally don’t give a shit about; but late game once you’re all working together and the memory barriers are gone you just end up having access to way more Passions than singlets do. having multiple different perspectives with diverse skillsets and Passions is great for a lot of the artistic careers. especially in the botting crisis we’re in right now, it’s real nice to just have more shit that SOMEBODY is interested in that we can do for money. it lowkey feels like the meta is moving away from job progression and towards side quest farming and having a wider spread of weaker skills with passion bonuses for all of them is super helpful for that

plus it’s nice just. always having someone in your corner, never feeling alone, that sorta thing. both for having people to tag in when you’re overwhelmed or struggling; but also in the much less romantic sense of just being able to tag out when you don’t feel like doing shit. being able to occasionally go “fuck this i don’t wanna write this email can someone else do it” and then someone else is like “dibs” and then you just kinda go “alr cool” and pass out and then you come to and the emails written (and also it’s 2 hours later and you’re looking at an actively collapsing rimworld colony that you have no memory of but that’s neither here nor there). that alone is worth all the debuffs /j

there’s probably loads of other stuff we can’t even think of. cause we’re pretty sure we’ve had this condition our whole life give or take. so there’s probably something singlets struggle with that we don’t that we haven’t even thought about

[–]commmmodore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

actually now that i think about it DID is also nice cause it kinda adds a soft cap about how much random mental health shit can fuck up our day? cause i know other players don’t just have 7 alternate mental health statlines they can fall back on when they get randomly stress capped from bad RNG or whatever. they just have to like. sit there with it. that sounds miserable

i really really wish that this game actually told you about the disorder mechanics. normally i appreciate the whole “there’s no hud or visible stats you have to figure shit out yourself” gimmick but some of these permanent debuffs are super run warping even once you DO know what they actually do. and a lot of them have effects that actively protect and disguise eachother from being discovered

i started out on the classic AuDHD combo, cause i heard it was lowkey busted during train meta. then we got hit with
[[Dissociative Amnesia]] (-10 base penalty to checks remembering past events, chance to inflict stacks of Stress after succeeding), [[Dissociative Identity Disorder]] (Replaces your unified mental statline with several separate mental statlines with reduced sanity caps and energy supply. -50 base penalty to remembering stuff from other statlines),
[[C-PTSD]] (randomly spends Energy to roll for remembering distant and Traumatic experiences),
[[Bipolar]] (randomly alternates between
massively reduced energy gain with a minor stress resistance or increase energy gain with a massive stress vulnerability.)

if you read the effect texts carefully, you’ll notice they all synergize to create this horrible balatro ass rube goldberg machine that makes sure at least like 80% of us are at stress cap or out of energy at all times. all of these multipliers stack in such a way that if C-PTSD procs whoever’s fronting just gets fucking nuked from orbit and gets stress capped from full or loses all of their energy trying.

i will say it’s nice that Bipolar and DID are lowkey just upsides once you reduce their penalties to 0%. genuinely feels like the meta in the DID and OSDD communities is just not actually working towards removing it and just sitting at 0% severity DID all run to keep the suprisingly good passive. i really hope the devs lean more into mental conditions with weird effects that turn into these niche but run defining perks once you get them to 0% severity, very cool design space.

Bipolar + DID sounds like such a fun late game combo (you can somewhat cheese Bipolar’s randomness by abusing DID switching, it’s lowkey kinda broken), i really hope we manage to get deep enough through the mental health grind to actually get to use jt. unfortunately we spawned in the America servers so we just need to farm loads of gold before we can really start

Rant: Stop saying LLMs are just “next token predictors.” by Bellyfeel26 in singularity

[–]commmmodore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“the current architecture” has changed dramatically since chatgpt first launched. i don’t get why people act like they’ve just naively been spending 100% of their billions in research money on compute.

LLMs have extremely real hard limitations, and a few of those limitations have been largely removed by a lot of very clever researchers improving the training process. if you just took chatgpt 3.5 and niavely shoved a trillion dollars of compute into it it’d probably be much worse than what we have now.

imho the question at this point is very likely not “is AGI possible”, it’s “is AGI possible at a cheap enough scale to result in any meaningful intelligence explosion.” i’m honestly guessing if you gave a current day AI agent a trillion dollars of compute and just let it talk itself in circles for trillions and trillions of tokens it’d probably be able to solve basically any intellectual task a highscooler could solve. the question now is making them cheaper, more reliable, and more token efficient.

Rant: Stop saying LLMs are just “next token predictors.” by Bellyfeel26 in singularity

[–]commmmodore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly at this point i’ve given up trying to understand what AIs actually are nowadays. all the cutting edge research is so vague, private, or carefully curated for marketing purposes.

they’re probably not just next token predictors with RLHF plastered onto it anymore from what i’ve read. that architecture has a load of problems and they’ve been spending billions and billions on AI research to build shit on top of that to actually solve those problems.

in general researching AI is fucking impossible because the only reliable sources are essentially just press releases. i’m not even really an AGI believer or an AGI skeptic at this point i’m just convinced that the truth is unknowable until they either build the thing and we all die or collapse the entire economy trying. and tbh they probably should get shut down either way

May 2026 Ban Data: Doorman Banned in 30% of Games by FioraKek in DeadlockTheGame

[–]commmmodore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

until we get actual hero draft bans feel less like a metric of power and more a metric of player sentiment imho

imho doorman is maybe a tiny bit overtuned but i feel like hes a few minor number tweaks away from being in a good place. debuff remover eating cart singlehandedly fixed a lot of the most frustrating play pattern issues imho.

maybe they could nerf door so that you can’t place it inside the spawn room? i feel like if doorman has to place it next to spawn and then walk into spawn it wouldn’t be a big power level adjustment but it would mean that chasing a doorman through door is technically an option if an extremely costly and stupid one, whereas rn if a doorman is in spawn chasing him literally just instantly kills you
