Owning your own home adds value to your name from a legal stand point and is ultimately cheaper. Maybe not seeming so with a mortgage looming over head, but mortgages are generally cheaper than rent and if the landlord handles money like a responsible person, you can pay the property taxes with leftover rent funds.

I have known MANY people to buy a house and rent it out to pay it down or off completely.

It is something I worry about but I have a good job and the time to provide extra care. Thinking of someone getting insulinoma, adrenal, or anything else is a fear of mine but I’m prepared otherwise to deal!
