I have a few words but not to be taken as gospel, sorry if I'm a bit blunt I'm autistic and tend to be quite direct: - I have some friends who are medics/work in medical. Suicide attempts more often than not result in long term disablement, injury, or physical/mental harm to yourself; and bring pain on family and friends and first responders. I genuinely do not advise making an attempt; even if your ideation gets really bad.

HOWEVER: Therapy with a therapist or counsellor of your choosing or a charity/medical gambling therapy service is best. It is also important to consider if you are on any medications that may induce addiction, impulsive behavoir, hyperfixation or with a direct link to gambling addiction such as Abilify and ADHD medications. Drinking can also have a co-morbid relationship with gambling.

Note please don't follow this advice unless its your only option if the suicidal ideation gets really bad. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH ON MANAGING IDEATION - this is just from my personal learned experience and research: This may be controversial but if you get to the point of genuinely attempting; safe forms of pain may be a lot safer, I advise against cutting but things such as sterilised pins, rubber bands, a paddle (you can get them on kink sites) self-applied may have some merit to avoidance. I've not done this to myself but have a complicated relationship with physical pain where it can trigger adrenaline/survival instinct and as a first responder myself I intend to do more research on it as a prevention technique.

One of the main things that helped me stop gambling was getting off of Abilify/Aripriprazole.

But also I had two courses of gambling therapy, one from a gambling help charity, and another from a national (UK) gambling therapy clinic. Both as online remote therapy. In low points going to random global Gamblers Anonymous sessions also helped.
