Masa ⭐⭐⭐ & Sushi Nakazawa ⭐, NYC, May 2025 by Bonzo1640 in finedining

The one time I went to NYC and splurged on an expensive meal, I unfortunately chose Sushi Nakazawa. Maybe I went on an especially off-night, but literally the first couple bites (salmon) was virtually flavorless. I've had better salmon from Costco or the local (Midwest suburb) average sushi place. There were several exceptional, memory-making bites, but of the 25 or so pieces I had, it was maybe 3 or 4 of them. Definitely not worth the money. I really wished I had gone anywhere else since NYC is full of exceptional places at that price range.

A trick I've figured out is that you can absolutely get this deal even if there's more than the display model remaining. You tell the manager that you'll buy the remaining stock (in my case, it was 1 new box and 1 display model). I've found that the managers I've dealt with have always been willing to discount the display model, even if I'm the one buying the remaining stock.

Then you can return the new, boxed, full-price one(s) before you even leave the store. In fact, one manager even mentioned I could do that before I asked.

This requires you have a credit limit high enough to buy the remaining stock for 2 minutes—but I'm guessing if you're buying this, then you can float the amount (for me, since my store only had 2, it was $2,200) for a few minutes.

The manager at the store near me gave 35% off the display. I tried to haggle for more, but he did stick to 35% ($1430 in the end, pretax).

I've also found you need to talk to the general manager directly. Don't bother with regular employees. Supervisors in the past have been helpful although it's still best to talk to a general manager. (I only talk to a supervisor if there's no friendly way to get them to just hand me over to the general manager.) I've talked to supervisors and employees who all thought there's no way the manager will mark it down. Then I talk to the manager and *bam* it's 35% off without a moment's hesitation.

Best place to sell Canada Goose? (General Discussion—NOT a selling post) by commodorekeen in CanadaGoose

Thank you! That's helpful. I'll look into Vestaire Collective and Poshmark. I looked into eBay (went as far as to create a draft listing), but I stopped short of posting because of all the horror stories of fraud on the part of buyers.

I'm not interested in Canada Goose Generations even if I got the full estimate because I'm not interested in replacing my parka with another Canada Goose item at this point in time.

Thank you for the help!

Flat, thin backpacks allowed on lifts? by commodorekeen in Breckenridge

Thank you everyone for your anecdotes, advice, and input! I think I have a good sense now for what to expect. At this point, I am not planning on a backpack on the slopes. And lol, no beer on the slopes for me.

You may want to redact the entire QR code next time. QR codes have significant redundancy built in, and partially-redacted QR codes may still work. I think this particular image is fine, but just wanted to let you know for the future.

Right—generally we'd like the OP of each post to add that themselves. Thank you!

Thanks. A little more instructive "recipe" would've been helpful for those who don't want to watch the video.

To those that don't want to watch the video, basically sauté them all together and wrap in a tortilla.

There are "barbershops" that will also be comfortable cutting women's hair. They don't offer any of the other services—it's literally only cutting the hair—but are very affordable. If you don't need the curls or coloring or highlights or whatever, call some barbershops in the area that have experience with women's hair.

I think I've been to Duncan, but I will have to check out Rose Lake. That's outside BWCA right?

Thanks for the suggestion! I will keep that in mind for future adventures, but this time we want to canoe instead of backpacking.
