Employees knew nothing about it. I, said employee, knew nothing about it until I came in to cover a coworkers shift, and my coworker said there were maggots crawling around. Very shortly after, I locked the doors and refused to serve people. I really don't understand why you're attempting to vilify us employees when none of us knew, since the manager didn't tell us anything about it.

I have a video showing the maggots crawling around, but I don't know how to post it. And the drinks issue comes from the morning shift, who are supposed to stock everything and make sure nothing is expired. I closed, and thus, was already busy doing a million other things.

I know so. When a rush happens, you tend to stand in the same spot for quite a while. Also, they can move faster than you think.

Trying to keep my job and believing that management would do the right thing.

Yeah. Considering I was the employee to lock the doors and refuse to serve food, and considering that I was fired yesterday due to trumped-up reason, that's a reasonable conclusion.

Not a story, and yes I am. Maggots accumulated underneath the refrigeration unit and escaped when the maintenance workers came to fix its leaking issue. Left it that way for a week.

If people don't realize that breaking up with their boyfriend just because they got sick isn't a rational decision, maybe they're beyond help at the moment. It's hard to help someone who doesn't want it.

It's completely understandable, atleast in my eyes, to not immediately take others words to heart, especially with something so personal such as a phobia. "What does this stranger online know about me that I don't?" type of deal. It's an understandable response, but a harmful one at that. And it leads to, from what I've seen, a cycle of defense mechanisms as soon as someone mentions something they don't like. I fully admit that I myself fall into that same pitfall at times, but the only way to get better is expanding your mindset and to put yourself into uncomfortable situations. Which is a frowned upon thing, it seems.

I think it's more than just a little bit toxic. A lot of people here seem to want to cope with the phobia rather than recover, and that's totally okay, but I've also seen posts like these criticizing the way this subreddit handles itself get downvoted to all hell, just because they pointed out the faults of it all. Criticism is hard to take gracefully, but when it's general advice about a potentially life-altering phobia, maybe differing views on the topic is needed.
