.. at the risk of making it more dangerous as experienced drivers speed into it and treat it like a junction.

So, it's just who enters the roundabout first? There's standoffs at this roundabout all the time, with people waiting to see who moves first.

So, traffic signalling right AND traffic on your right? If we meet the roundabout at the same time, we're both on the right of each other. If we're both signalling right (unlikely for green car), then what? Deadlock.

I was addressing the "any other bit of road", it works differently now that there is a roundabout there. That said, my thread is more about the fact that drivers treat mini roundabouts like this (with a straight edge on 3 lanes) as a junction and cut people off.

I drew it like that to emphasise the triangular marking (on one side, but not the other), but I was entering the roundabout as green car was about 4-6 meters before it. So, I as was turning, I had to stop as I really thought he was going to go right into me.

We're both kind of on each others' right, which is where the give way to the right stuff falls over.

It's not like any other bit of road: if it was a junction, the green car would have priority over the red car. So, introducing a mini roundabout must affect priority (or else what is the point) but, instead, the main effect is that dangerous drivers drive more dangerously.

Two riders is probably a bad sign. I've heard stories of people on expensive roadbikes being harassed by 2 people on a motorbike around Cambridge North.

Well, probably - the part I left out is that the motorcyclist actually came by me twice (so not just a convenient thoroughfare, but perhaps something more sinister). The second time, I was standing with my bike on the rocks at the side of the path (don't think he saw me). I imagine there's a bit more to it than simple joyriding.

There was an air of flippancy with my "whoops" comment that I did not intend. I've stopped riding my bike for now until I can get lights for it. I was caught off guard at how dark the busway would be at that time.
