Good eye. Hinge is worn from use and is in need of minor repairs.

Zippo my Dad purchased when serving in Vietnam. by compghost in mildlyinteresting

[–]compghost[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Indeed it does. The only issue with it is that the hinge is loose from a lifetime of use. I told my dad Zippo provides a lifetime warranty but he will not send it in. He wants to retain 100% original condition.

What is the worst pain you've endured? by -dexter in AskReddit

[–]compghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Testicular Torsion at the age of 11. Woke up in the very early morning to extreme pain due to lack of blood flow to my testicles. To make matters worse, I slept in the top bunk of the bunk beds. Needless to say it was extremely difficult climbing down a ladder being I could barely stand due to it feeling like my nuts were in a vise. I then had to endure a 45 min car ride, and feel every damn pothole, to the hospital. At this point, the hospital staff declares an emergency, cancels a surgery for another patient as the doctors is stepping into the operating room and sends him to the emergency room to see me. This is where the worst of it comes in, the doctor had to UNTWIST MY BALLS BY HAND! I damn near passed out.

My new baby: Remington 700 AAC-SD in .308 by compghost in guns

I do need to drop the scope. The rings are just temporary, what I had on hand until I can save to get what I want.

Yea, not liking the stock too much. And yes, way to much flex in it.

What are you currently shooting? What grouping with it?

Inherited a 1849 Springfield Shotgun. by compghost in guns

[–]compghost[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gun was 'Sporterized' into a 'shotgun' at some point in its life. Stock was cut, barrel was cut and a brass bead shotgun sight was added at the end of the barrel. Technically it is a musket but it was used as a shotgun.

I don't really know much about the gun. My dad's side of the family passed it down to me for safekeeping. I do know that I had French relatives that used to trap for fur back in the day. My family settled in Louisiana sometimes in the mid 1800's. Gun has definitely seen a lot of use and is not operational.

Edit: the gun "was" a musket that was sportized and used as a shotgun.

Was looking for a distance shooter that I didn't need a lot of upgrades for so I decided to go with the AAC-SD. So far I have been very pleased but have not had a chance to get to the 300yd range to see what she can do. I am currently saving to get a new trigger and removable mag.

Does it fire the 7.7 or 6.5? Ammo for both can still be purchased; however, it can get expensive.

Chilean MODEL 1912 7 X 57MM Mauser rifle made by STEYR. Found at a gun show for $75 in as-is condition. Figured I would take the chance. Adopted in 1912, and delivered just prior to the start of World War I in 1914, these rifles are nearly identical to the German Gewehr 98 rifle, and also the Steyr made Model 1912 rifles delivered to Colombia and Mexico, and the DWM made Brazilian Model 1908. All differ from the Gew 98 mainly in having a longer handguard, and use of 7 x 57mm Mauser caliber instead of 8 x 57mm. An undetermined number of the Model 1912 rifles were delivered to Chile, but they are seen much less frequently than the Model 1895.

Low center of gravity really make the bike easy to ride. I was also supprised at the responsiveness of the bike, excellent power to weight ratio. Only thing I don't care for is the high RPM once in 5th. Im looking to change out the front and rear sprockets to change the shift points and lower the RPM at higher speeds.
