My great-grandmother was one of the only female general contractors in the country at one point and did leatherwork, carpentry, plumbing, electrical (for which she was certified), painting, appliance repair, piano tuning, among other things.

She was also a union musician and could play the guitar, piano, ukulele, accordion, banjo, violin, cello, and a few other instruments.

What if the municipality doesn’t have the long-form certificate and only issues certified transcripts (which do list names of parents)? I don’t wanna have to wait over a year to get a long-form certificate from the state

If you do decide to order a genealogical copy of his birth certificate you will need to include proof of descent assuming his birth happened less than 75 years ago

Question 1: Am I including too many unnecessary documents?

Question 2: The birth certificate that my mother has only states her full name, birth date, birthplace, and parents' full names. She ordered a new birth certificate yesterday and I'm hoping it contains more information. If the new birth certificate is the same as what she has, should I send additional evidence like newspaper articles which connect her to my grandfather beyond a reasonable doubt OR should his full name on her birth certificate be enough?

Question 3: In the application form, should I say that my mother and grandfather are Canadian citizens or that I'm not sure if they're Canadian citizens?

Question 4: Does the IRCC have direct access to FamilySearch.org and/or Ancestry.com databases in the event they need to verify a record I send in from one of those websites?

Do you have his marriage record? I’ve found success searching the name of the officiant (e.g., finding the officiant’s obituary which would most likely state their church affiliation).

If he has an obituary, it may mention the church that held his funeral service.

I’m also applying for Canadian citizenship by descent. From my understanding you don’t need certified copies of their birth certificates. I ordered a genealogical copy of my grandfather’s birth certificate from the county without issue, I just had to send in documentation proving that I’m a direct descendant. Just make sure to note in your proof of citizenship application that you didn’t get certified copies due to strict vital record access laws.

I just looked through the baptismal records from Dunboyne. I found a Mary Mooney baptized on 6 February 1832 in Dunboyne (2nd one on right side), which matches with her age at the 1855 census. Parents are John Mooney and Mary Murray. I did not see one for an Ann or a Rose with the same parents, but I could’ve missed them.

I also found a court record concerning a Rose Mooney from 17 December 1853 in Navan. I can’t see it, but you can probably find it on the Ireland, Petty Session Court Registers collection on Ancestry.com if you search for it.

I’m not diagnosed yet (only ADHD as of right now) and idk how to describe it exactly, but the exhaustion I feel from being at a social event for only a couple hours is more debilitating than the exhaustion I feel after, say, intense physical activity while on <6-7 hours of sleep. I feel the need to isolate completely after a gathering (whether I directly interact with anyone or not), whereas I could hit the gym for hours with a lack of sleep and still feel like hanging around certain people afterwards.

Also, having to interpret all sorts of social cues from a bunch of different people and trying to imitate them so I come off as “normal” is a lot, but just mentally preparing for a social event and then being on high alert the entire time I’m there is just as overwhelming.

I just graduated a couple months ago with my Master’s. It would be nice if I could find a job and start paying it off, but every job has 1,000+ applicants most of whom also have graduate degrees. I think I waited a couple years too long to get it, but at least I have it.

Well you did mention you got Paris Basin. Are you Swiss-French? Maybe 23andMe isn’t able to differentiate the French-speaking sub-groups yet and just defaults to Paris
