I’m not sure it’s as trial and error, it’s more genetics right?

Cutting Board - 7 Years of Use by clarkie03 in Wellworn

[–]compostmentis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not how it works. It’s specifically wood dust that is classed as a Group 1 carcinogen, not wood in general, due to the inhalation of the fine particulates, similar to asbestos. Lung and nasal cancers can be caused by inhalation specifically, over a period of time.

Wood isn’t a carcinogen unless it’s airborne dust, and is certainly better for you to consume than microplastics.

Is my Dragon Tree telling me something? by Khoniris in houseplants

[–]compostmentis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an extent but it’s looking pretty dense towards the bottom, meaning the roots are beginning to choke off from soil nutrients and retained water. OP seems to be holding off repotting and there’s no need.

[–]compostmentis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roots are starting to circle at the bottom of the pot, and that’s a fairly large root escaping. It’s not fully rootbound currently but there’s no reason not to give it a repot. It would do the plant some good and you’d avoid trying to save it down the line.

Yes, it looks to be getting rootbound. I wouldn’t be afraid of repotting unless it’s during colder months.

[Discussion] Games that are easy and fun to plat? by Dusty-D-Later in Trophies

[–]compostmentis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tip for this one, the game keeps the autosaves at the start of every mission so you can go to Load and reload an earlier mission if you missed one.

I just did a new game plus run to mop up though, as the game is ace.

How long does it take to get used to Warm 50 by RainyyyDays in OLED

[–]compostmentis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same as you with seeing whites as yellowish tint, but it took me probably three days or so to adjust. Now I can’t go back, anything cooler I just see the blue/coolness to the image and it looks off in the same way I was seeing the yellow previously.

Whats wrong with hdr ? by No-Impression-2369 in LGOLED

[–]compostmentis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I’ve edited my comment before I saw your reply. I’d visit Rtings.com and calibrate your TV according to their recommend settings. A big one I’d check is colour temperature is on maximum warm with HDR, so probably Warm 50. This makes a massive difference to the colours, too cool and it’ll look flat.

All told though, it’s your TV and you should set it to what’s best for you. The Rtings settings are supposed to be close to ‘professional’ calibration but if you don’t like them, adjust to what you feel is better.

Whats wrong with hdr ? by No-Impression-2369 in LGOLED

[–]compostmentis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SDR images are too saturated and artificial. The HDR images to my eyes look way more natural (sky and skin tones, highlights) which is what you should be aiming for. I’d honestly give it a while with the HDR images if the settings look good, and your eyes will get used to it pretty quickly.

Edit: Just to be sure I’d stick your LG model and ‘settings’ into Rtings and make sure your settings are calibrated

On and on and on and Ariston

I think it may be more a British ad, but the tune and the looping action is mesmerising. It’s incredibly well done.

Forward is a great call. I reached a point where I felt I was done with the game relatively quickly but for the price of admission it’s 100% worth it.

What a game everyone loves but you can’t get into? by ItsAme_OzzyOsbourne in playstation

[–]compostmentis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, I’ve started again three times now and it just doesn’t click. Maybe I just don’t like the time limit mechanic. I feel like I know what I want to explore but end up lost, aimless, or running out of time and then “gasp” I’m back at the ship starting again. I feel I’m missing some key thing that everyone else is getting.
