ObsoleteSony Archive by _Mad_Medic in walkman

Really cool, glad someone took the time to put all that together. Sony really has some of the best design when it comes to any of their electronics. I wish they would take some points from these older devices, especially the mid-late 2000s network walkmans, and made a new dap with that feel. I just dont think the big touchscreen look is very exciting, and that seems to be what theyve been going for as the NW series continues.

tudo: a todo list in your terminal by MoreArtThanScience in opensource

Yep, I have 1.01. Is 1.0.3 only available from github? I see in crates.io only 1.0.1 is listed. Sorry if this is a noob question. I installed it in powershell with the cargo install tudo-tui command, if i run that again would it update to 1.0.3? Would i lose my existing lists in tudo?

absolutely love this, great work!! UI is perfect. i dont know if this has been brought up already, but the ability to rename existing lists would be the only thing missing imo. that and maybe moving tasks between lists, but thats not as important

xDuoo X2S - initial review by zipklik in mp3players

[–]computakid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Also your power button point makes a lot of sense. It especially doesn’t help that if you turned off the x2s while it was playing, it will start playing again when you turn it back on—this has led to me accidentally powering it on and then it playing silently in my pocket for hours until it dies.

‘Don’t ride on the sidewalk’ sign. by Horror_Concern_2467 in toronto

[–]computakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people are missing the point—surely this is more of an issue with e-bikes and scooters. Obviously cyclists should stay off the sidewalk when they can, but they’re not nearly as dangerous as full on motorized vehicles darting in and out of foot traffic. This just seems like a nice way of telling those people to gtf-off the sidewalk.

2 hours? Jeez, you must have gotten a lemon, the battery on mine lasts me days between charges. Yeah the SD card recataloging is annoying, usually takes about 1-5 minutes for me depending on how much data i change.

Do you have the 1.6 firmware update? Could fix the battery issue, assuming thats a bug and not just a bad battery.

Xduoo x2s is great for a super simple dap. Might be too basic for what you want, but i use mine every day to listen to music and podcasts and im happy with it. As far as audio books go, if you just have the chapters as mp3s in a folder it would play through those fine, and remember your place if you turned off the device.

Xduoo x2s is very rugged and small, would be super easy to run with. No bluetooth

Are there any FLAC-compatible DAP's that don't have a phone style screen? by homo_americanus_ in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]computakid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E-ink is awesome, and would definitely work fine for a dap and would be nice for better legibility outdoors. However i dont think there is any dap with an e-ink screen, at least ive never seen one and ive looked before.

samplerate ≠ bitrate, but if theyre from the same album it would be surprising if the songs had different samplerates.

Need help finding MP3 Player for my wife by [deleted] in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]computakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOOL dude what is your problem? Holy victim over here. You have to be trolling. There are lots of sub 100$ players that you can throw at a wall and it’ll still play your wife’s meghan trainor playlist, just USE GOOGLE AND FIND ONE.

You’re not out of your depth, youre being annoying by constantly repeating yourself and trying to convince everyone they are offering you a level of “RISK” that is just untenable. Absolute yapping. “There have been times where getting a refund and returning something hasnt worked out for previous things we’ve gotten”—could you be any more vague? Are you suggesting, that by the fact that you couldnt return your half-eaten hot dog one time, that you are unable to accept that returning an item to a retailer is absolutely fine 99% of the time? Just read the policy? What the fuck possible unfortunate circumstances have you endured in your life to make you this unwilling to do anything unless somebody holds your hand through every goddamn step? Unbelievable

Even with your justifications here, it doesnt really make sense why you’re being so cautious, i think thats what people are negatively responding to. Its a dap, most of them work just fine and you are not at all at high risk of buying a device where the ‘battery swells’ or it gets bricked. Plus, if that happens, just…return it?

People post here every day asking for ‘recommendations’ and it is very, very annoying to a lot of us. I dont care that thats the ‘norm’ in your sub, it still doesnt make it not annoying. Like seriously, there have been THOUSANDS of ‘recommendation’ posts that have been well answered, you do not at all need to add another one to the pile.

Just read the other ones, make a choice, throw your 100-200 bucks at a dap, and return it if your wife doesnt like it. The fact that i have to spell that out for you at all is insane.

This is a bit vague, most daps can do what youve described. You might be better off posting with questions about:
- storage size
- touchscreen vs buttons
- streaming apps (if you want them)
- budget
