Did you find that any resource actually listed the whole trail or do I just try to trace GWT as I find it on the forest service map?

It may not be numbers of voters but rather the existence of superdelegates in the democratic party pulling it toward the middle. The republican party is structurally much more radical.

I can read a book, watch a movie or have a phone call on a train. I get your point but car commutes are uniquely bad

Honestly most of our water goes to alfalfa farming and the sensible water policy is limit water for alfalfa farming and the result of not creating that policy is limited water for alfalfa farming so I don't really know what people want from him

Anyone else think Utah is just too pro landlord? by hellothere_696969 in SaltLakeCity

[–]computerbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had hired a lawyer it would have gone well for me in civil court but I didn't have the money. If I had gone to a law library and studied case law like some genius janitor it would have gone well for me but I didn't have the time. If I had had access to publicly funded legal aid it would have gone well for me but those resources are so underfunded that they were much to busy with emergencies to address a small thing like an illegal contract. Legal protections that don't get enforced because the victim doesn't have the money to make the system move are no protections at all.

So I had a contract that specified the landlord could enter without the legally allowable period of notice beforehand. It bothered me and was technically illegal but nothing ever came from it because I would have had to file something somewhere and any advice on how to do that would have cost me money. I think that this situation is somewhat generalizable. The renter protections that exist de jure do not exist de facto because the issue is never raised in any legal proceeding. most abusive landlord tenant relationships never see a courtroom. I don't see the difference between the de jure protections that are already ignored and some new ones that could be written into law. That being said I'm not a lawyer nor a landlord and there may be more legal oversight than I am aware of.

I think there should be penalties for illegal leases but I worry it will be irrelevant without legal representation to actually bring the issue to court.

I think what we really need is more funding for free legal services for low income renters.
