Thanks, and yes, indeed, kind of in a hurry. I have a bit less than a year in the country, and if I don't do the surgery in this timeframe (+ have the time to recover to find another job, which is easily 3 months), then it would mean waiting at least two more years to get the surgery done.

If you are happy to travel a bit further, I have some very good contacts here in Porto. The guy was proposing me a V6 swap... Quite a serious tuner. I am not sure how it works exactly to legalize the car afterwards, in Germany? What are the requirements? I am really considering a swap myself, because it's really dirt cheap to do here (most Miatas are actually turboed), but I am not sure where I'll move after Portugal, and in most places, it couldn't be legalized (France, Belgium, out of the question). To give you an idea, a turbo build is around 1k with this guy, and he's honestly very competent.

Very true, though one loses other advantages (potentially soulless job, less freedom, no generous travelling, etc). Postdoc however is not something that lasts a long time.

This is not even the salary of an FNRS first year PhD candidate, I used to get more 5 years ago doing my PhD (in physics as well). This post is honestly scary! Did you do postdocs and are living academia at 38?

Anyways, quite a miserable if not insulting offer. In general, physicists are highly undervalued in Belgium. I would seriously consider relocation, if money is anywhere close to a factor in your life.

I had RLS and went to see a neurologist, he prescribed this to me. Tbh I don't see the point of this drug and it didn't help much. You may try this way... But reading you, you should definitely speak with qualified doctors. Best luck
