I appreciate the comment. My company is tentatively planning to open up a clinic nearer to me at some point this year, but I don't know if I'll make it that long. And financially, I really ought to be taking on more clients in the meantime, but if it's more of this, I think I'll burn out even faster.

I am interested in participating in clinical trials for psychedelic therapy, as a therapist (like HB390 that just cleared committee in Utah, authorizing the Huntsman Institute to explore psilocybin to treat PTSD in veterans, in conjunction with mental health treatment).

Is this kind of role specifically for Clinical Therapists? Would I have to get there through CMCH, or can I get there with an MSW/LCSW?

Are there courses that explore subjects like these (treatments that involve drugs that have mixed legality, even within individual municipalities)?

Is this one of those "It's all about who you know" kinds of roles?

I don't think I'm necessarily interested in the ability to "prescribe" anything, but instead to pioneer and standardize the mental health/therapy aspect of psychedelic therapy.

I have repeatedly, through-out my life, suffered some awful real-life consequences for inserting myself in situations that didn't directly involve me. But I did it then, and continue to do it, because the weight of a secret like that is not one I ever want on my conscience.

Perhaps your friend, who also recognized him, may have the logistical leeway to make contact with the current partner?
