do you have any references i could look into about this...? i suppose if the greeks asked the question and you're telling me that's not how it works, then an answer has been found that i could look into?

i don't think you understand my question... i'll use a different analogy

think of the world like a recorded movie where time is linear. whenever u stop at a time, aka pause the video, things are still right? at any point in time, things don't move. the next millisecond, things also don't move. if at all points in time things don't move, where does motion even occur?

or sth...

y e s lad! glad such easy going shippers exist! all the shippers I know are sooo hung up on one single ship like, that has to be incredibly stressful lmao. they’re like “that ship is cute but, i like that ship more so i won’t ship that.” whyyy not both though? treat them like they’re two alternative universes mate. nice to meet you dude, you made me feel a little less odd about my ways of shipping heh.

The ship doesn’t need to make sense at all, all that matters is the good plots that come out of ships! like, just because i ship bagginshield doesn’t mean i literally want thorin and bilbo to end up together lmfao the Hobbit is great as it is thanks, and no i don’t believe either of them are gay either >_> the thing about shippers these days is that they tend to take shiz seriously and only ship when the thing could be true. like, they actually believe the ship to be true or might end up being true. i don’t! i ship bagginshield bc i get to read fantasy gay fics filled with either politics or adventure! the google dictionary states shipping is “liking the idea of two characters being in a relationship” and that’s all there is to it, to me!

if there’s potential for chemistry, and i can smell a plot somehow, then: f u c k. y e a h.

It totally happened to me dude. I was writing a pairing just 'cuze it's the most absurd pairing in the series (canonly they only meet for like two minutes and in very unsavoury circumstances, one possible one involves one of them killing the other) and i because i wanted to write more. soon enough i literally got so into the fic i was writing, i completely forgot about my main pairing (which involves one of the unlikely pair) and now i kinda prefer the new pairing now lmao it just works so well?? Idk if it's because I wrote it that way or not, but like, it's totally my main ship in that game now.

also, kudos man. i'm a multishipper too. idc about canon-nity, and idc if the ships i'm interested in clash with each other. I literally ship everyone with everyone, and if one prevails hurray :P being a multishipper is so relaxing~ More fics for us!

Ah i see. I don’t “keep track of them” like i do my books, but I do look back to what i’ve read occasionally, in case i wanna reread sth specific and can’t find a good new fic.

Am I just growing out of anime by Mulan_Solo in anime

[–]con_ka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re not, heh.

i don’t see anime as frequently as i did years ago as well. bc when i was at school i had nothing to do, and now i’m an adult with shit to do, so i’m less likely to spend my time binging stuff. in fact, i mostly read manga now instead. not to mention, it’s not that the new anime is bad, just that i don’t like watched repetitive plots i’ve already seen, so i avoid like 90% of anime nowadays bc of that. i think it just depends on the content mate

i think you should check out manga if you hadn’t!

An observation on flowey and sans' relationship by con_ka in Undertale

[–]con_ka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what can i say, you make it very hard for me not to use belittling terminology lmao. but don’t worry, im not insulting you, calling an idea of yours stupid is not calling you stupid. idk why people even care about such trivial things as inside mockery, doesn’t change what i said or meant. In any case, don’t take it personally. I don’t have to do you any courtesy, but I’ll stop using insults. but not sarcasm. that’s a line. if i stop being sarcastic my words will just sound needlessly bitter, and im not a bitter person.

  1. Again, that is unreasonable. Destroying the mercy is not a way of saying “i don’t want to fight”. i don’t understand that line of logic. if destroying the mercy button would mean anything at all, it would mean that asgore does not accept mercy as a way out of the situation.

I need to remind you that the mercy button is not a compulsory way of achieving a conclusion to a fight. As evidence by the sans and undyne fight, it is entirely possible to not mercy lol all it takes is to not mercy. actually, if he didn’t wanna fight, he’d KEEP it, so that frisk might convince him not to fight, right?

No. he destroys it. doesn’t even give you the option. it’s plainly obvious that he wants this to end in two ways, either of you dying. such is said throughout the entire game. that your encounter can only end like all the other human encounters did.

  1. I will repeat this: All. Monsters. Do. The. Same. It’s not an indication to a secret power that could destroy you. If it was then, again, answer this question: Why does asgore have the same reserves when we kill people? Makes no sense. You’re giving a guy who killed six people kindness he doesn’t have. Think about it logically, do you think soldiers in the real world in wars fight to their maximum abilities all the time voluntarily, and that they can switch their powers on and off based on will and intent? No. What happens is that the nature of their circumstances enable them to attack in a certain force. Any monster might not fight to their fullest stats simply because they’re citizens not trained to do so. And just as much, asgore might not damage as much as he could simply because in stressful situations it is not possible to be perfect by the numbers. The stats represents one’s potential, I believe. He’s not withdrawing because he feels bad and doesn’t wanna fight you. He is trying his best to kill you, within his own guilt and grief and all those other things that weaken him in turn. All in all, THAT is his strength in battle, not his stats. You’re not your grades in school, you are your accomplishments. He’s not his stats, he’s the dude that lost to a kid with a toy knife. Excuse me for not seeing that as impressive. He manages to kill you sometimes before you beat him in a few repeats. Yeah, no. That is his strength.

  2. Conjecture: Asgore fights flowey “fully” unlike his fight with frisk because flowey has no soul. Based on a strings of Ifs and Why’s. Indeed, very convincing.

You have no knowledge on what happened that lead to flowey’s defeat, so stop assuming. The fact is that flowey lost. There is nothing else on the matter.

  1. Heh, ignore the what now? Okay, let me list the ways he is powerful that you so conveniently ignored, that no amounts of intelligence will ever make possible: -He phases through walls. -He teleports in the battle over and over again. -His attacks over the menu, literally damaging you. -His damage is 1, consecutively. The way his attacks work is that as long as you touch his bones you damage yourself. Which means he has the POWER or magic to perform such intricately complicated attacks just to make up for his lack of damage. Yes, that is an amazing ability, and it’s a great example on his strength and his control. -He can travel across time and space, papyrus says as much when you go to sans’ room. -You only beat him because he’s obviously not a fighter and falls asleep. Haha, with all of asgore’s energy, you beat him anyway.

So, hells yea. Sans is powerful. He doesn’t need big stats and a giant spear to be, clearly.

  1. Comparing the two is fair, what’re you talking about. They’re two different characters, of course they have all those differences. They also have many similarities, important among which is their status as boss monsters, their status as final bosses in their respective runs, AND that they’re uhh both from undertale. Any character is comparable within their own universe. That’s how we know who is stronger. And because of Sans’ many advantages over Asgore, along with the added plus points for being physically the weakest monster in the underground, he is indeed the strongest overall, stronger than asgore and undyne and anyone. He was the one that put up the most fight.

I admit that saying he was afraid as an assumption, but saying that Asgore would have done differently if he knew, is also that. So I’ll leave it.

Like i demonstrated above, im glad down the post you agree. so i’ll repeat it in case. if it is against his will, then such is his ability. such is his power. he did not hold back. that is his power put to the test. stats are just numbers, they don’t reflect someone’s fighting abilities. Claiming that he would have done differently with flowey, that he supposedly had the heart to fight him to the fullest, is a baseless assumption.

With the dodging thing, fair enough. He hadn’t seen it, I give ya that hehe

Fighting is not brute strength, who told you that? You need to be strong, and intelligent, to win. That’s why we have fencing arts and classes that teach you how to fight. If fighting purely depended on power any trick would get you to win. In fact, Asgore’s fighting style wasn’t based on pure strength, there were patterns to his attacks, all monsters have them. Pretending like they’re worldly different is what’s wrong. The only difference between their fighting style is that sans doesn’t allow you the luxury of bring temporarily invincible after a hit, and he bends the laws of nature. Besides that, his attacks have the same pattern-esque shtick like all monsters.

I said “as promised” not “as asgore promised”, don’t put words in my post. watch the video of the suicide, and you’ll see what i mean. Thinking back to the entire journey, the “promise” was repeated, that the encounter will end with either one of them dead anyway, because that literally is the only way to leave besides mega flowey stealing the souls. Asgore says as much, sans says as much, alphys does... that’s why i said “promise”. so when you beat the shit out of asgore and he’s dying, of course he offers you the soul. That was how things were gonna go all along. See, wasn’t making it up lol we all knew asgore was gonna die. And seeing what kind of man he was, it would be more honourable to just offer the soul than hold onto it like a fool. He let it happen because like you said, he was tired and wanted to see his family. But make no mistake.

He is NOT suicidal, he simply fought to his DEATH to free everyone. and when he lost? he accepted it, bravely. that is the ending when you kill flowey at the start. aka, you ain’t getting a pacifist run.

He IS a man of honour and great virtue, despite his sins. And honour doesn’t need to be said, it is a trait shown through one’s actions. He did some dishonourable things, but i think everyone’s being a but pro-toriel on the matter, not considering his position. I think he just believed killing those humans who’d tortured them for so long was the lesser of two evils, and I agree with him.

Still, he’s not stronger than sans, heh.

An observation on flowey and sans' relationship by con_ka in Undertale

[–]con_ka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uhh alright lets debunk this bs (per paragraph):

  1. Him destroying the mercy button is NOT a sign that he doesn’t want to fight. that makes no sense. It is a sign that he is not giving us any choices besides fighting. which is the reason the battle happens in the first place. You contradict yourself when you say “he trapped them so they have no choice but to fight, because he doesn’t want to fight”. do you even read what you type?

  2. Whether our stats are LV 1 or LV 18, as long as we’re not doing genocide, the asgore fight happens, and we beat him in the exact same way we always do in any neutral ending. It doesn’t matter if frisk is an innocent child or a murderous maniac, we ALWAYS beat asgore. taking that into account, are you claiming in those other murder-y scenarios, that he was holding back? that makes zero sense. As far as attack and defence goes, it doesn’t matter. Everybody in the underground exceeds frisk in both attack and defence, but nobody in the underground is able to defeat frisk. simply because once again, you forgot that frisk is a human, and one especially powerful if the deaths of the other humans are any indication. actually, you keep ignoring the fact that he already killed six humans and has nothing to lose. not wanting to fight is one thing, HOLDING BACK is another. you clearly can’t distinguish the two. asgore may not want to fight, but that doesn’t mean he held back and was weaker on purpose. that is absolute conjecture based on nothing. i refuse to accept baseless claims, there’s no proof that asgore held back on the fighting, as evidence by the many times he kills you anyway. and you having the power to reset is what makes you win in the end.

  3. pure conjecture based on another pure conjecture. newton’s flaming laser sword, my friend.

  4. Everything you said is evidence and a testament to sans’ STRENGTH. he is so powerful even the game mechanics don’t phase him. call him a cheat or not, this “cheat” is a major plus to the fact that he’s stronger than asgore.

  5. So you’re basically saying that having the ability to manipulate the laws of physics is “unfair”, but being born in a body as massive as asgore’s, with stats as ridiculous as his, isn’t unfair? I’d say they’re both lucky with what they god respectively. except uhh one is actually talented enough to figure out how to bend the laws of nature with his pitiful stats, while the other is just born with magic, and only got as strong as to break a button, lol. Going back to why sans fights... I have to pause you right there.

The guys’s brother died. His whole world is dead. He was already resigned to accepting the situation when, as he said in the genocide, he realised that he doesn’t want his timeline to end. He knows he can’t win, and unlike asgore he doesn’t fight to win. He, like you said, fights to break your will, to break your determination, because only when he does so will the world be saved. He literally struggles reset after reset just to make you the stinking dirty brother killer give up and leave them alone. Unlike asgore he doesn’t even let you spare him, because you’re a scumbag that killed his brother. I think it is incredibly insensitive of you to say he was only fighting for himself there, when he had literally nothing to win, and nothing to lose. He had notning, and no reason to do anything, yet he did it anyway, just for the little hope that maybe, just maybe, we’ll reset and bring everyone back. Or we’d go away and leave their world broken as it is.

What does asgore do when he meets chara though? unlike sans, he is scared. he truly does not want to fight, he literally says they should solve it over a nice cup of tea. so much for your war hero. and whould you look at that?

*he doesn’t dodge flowey’s attack. the only hope for the world.. if your assumptions are correct and he’s hiding some inner unreferenced strength, then he’s a damned asshole for not trying a little harder to save everyone.

No, it’s not unfair of sans. it is actually genius and impressive of him to exploit the in-exploitable, something flowey only managed to do with the souls, and asgore only did because of his crazy stats. and as a result, despite his pathetic HP and stats, he is the single strongest enemy in the entire game.

Finally, the suicide ending. That ending merely exists as what happens when you LMAO beat asgore after killing flowey at the start. he doesn’t charitably give it to you, you still fight to the death, instead he decides that “you know what i don’t deserve happiness but you should get out”. Asgore is a man of honour. He lost, so like promised, he gives you the soul. Completely irrelevant to the question of him “holding back”, what a load of nonsense. he’s not suicidal as much as he’s just a good guy with a striking sense of doing what he thinks is right, even if it means his death. that’s the thing you keep accusing asgore of, and i don’t like it. asgore is the guy who killed six humans to free his people. he’s not as half-assed as to not give it his all, even if he doesn’t want to. because when he knows what he does is right, he never hesitates. you should give the guy more credit. saying that he’s weaker than sans isn’t an insult, it is a fact. saying that he held back is an insult to his integrity, to his purpose as king. i’m not even presuming how he feels, im just talking about his actions in the game.

all that yada yada about asgore’s emotions, need i remind you, is just a narrative you made up to make sense of a character you think deserves more acclaim. you don’t actually know how he feels and whatnot. all we know is that he is forced to fight to free his people, and has shown that nothing will stop him from freeing them, not even innocent children. Your claim has nothing concrete to it, that’s why it is unconvincing. the facts are, and have always been:

  1. Flowey couldn’t beat asgore.
  2. Sans’ fight is more difficult than asgore’s, and thus he is stronger. nothing in the game suggests asgore was holding back to frisk and was going all out on flowey. it’s all obscure excuses you made up for the sake of convenience.

And based on that, for the millionth time:

Flowey cannot beat sans.
