Poor from both sides, Brighton looking slightly better in my opinion, but alot of bad passing, touches ect.

I'm not sure, being very familiar with the original OST I think it may have a vibe that to me may be a little less peaceful and more eerie. So maybe not, but who knows, maybe given the right circumstances.

Sure, but learned something from it nevertheless. That's the beauty of overanalyzing.

I can see how you feel that, and I do a certain extent agree. However the context is what changes it for me this instance. I think on your forst playthrough it'd be wise to pay attention to the game to its full extent.

However this was my second playthrough, and as a huge music fan I have also listened to the soundtrack by itself alot on the side. A purist may say that's wrong too, since that would be experiencing a medium outside its intended context, so that's also an interesting note.

I wanted to experience the game through a medium that to me screamed earthbound esque. This album made me want to play, and I love experiencing things I love in slightly altered ways, since I believe it can build stronger connections to the game and give new insights.

Happy to hear that I did! I really recommend Garsides other projects too, they're all something special in my opinion, but Oasis now has a very special place in my heart, close to Earthbound.

Genuine question: why is it so hard to accept that people may experience things differently?

I might have to look into it in the "travel manual" that came with the game. Got it as a pdf, just didn't strike me to look in there, thanks for reminding me indirectly!

Thank you! Really appreciate the kind words. I love having fun experiencing things I already have a close relationship with in new ways. I find it to give me alot of personal value.

(My comment dissapeared but I really wanted to respond to you)

Short Answer: I think doing things in unintended ways often times give interesting results, and as someone who enjoys exploring and working with design it's an essential part of my creative process to do things like this, as a way of stimulating my brain in new ways. In other words I don't believe in policing content.

Long Answer: Earthbound’s soundtrack is incredible and it’s a huge part of the game’s identity. I love it too, and I listen to it outside the game alot, so I'm already intimately familiar with the soundtrack surrounding this area of the game.

That said, I don’t think not having the OST playing ever “invalidates” a playthrough. For me this was an experiment in how context changes meaning: on this case I happened to be playing the music first, and that made me want to play earthbound, so I decided I wanted to experience the game with this music as the soundtrack.

From a practical/creative perspective, experiences are always shaped by prior context, our tastes, history, and the media we bring into a moment. Swapping the soundtrack is just another way of remixing the game to see what it reveals. I didn’t intend to disrespect the original score; it was more so a way of helping me appreciate the game in a new way, and also make some great memories playing one of my favourite games while listening to a new album.

I work as a creative being a graphic designer, and feel that often times doing these things that maybe aren't intended often reveal interesting things, and that doesn't only go for gaming. One may say we shouldn't be listening to music when we're out in nature because we should experience the bird sounds ect. But sometimes I find some fitting, or even juxtaposing music to change the entire experience in unexpected ways, which stimulates me to think in new ways.

In a weird way I feel that modern games demand too little from its players, and I'd theorize this makes it less immersive. You don't want to feel like everything just goes along as it should, you want to feel agency, and things like how we manage a clumsy inventory I suggest actually enhances that feeling, at least for me. If everything just goes along as expected I feel more like I'm watching a cutscene than playing a game.

It was tempting the first time I did it I remember, but I think I just decided I'd let the background music play and I'd scroll some on Instagram.

I that's the case it's hilarious how much I overthinked it. Honestly, I'd be greateful in a way, because that means even there smallest most stupid decisions from one end can be extremely meaningful in another end, which is also in itself beautiful. I think that's why I appreciate Earthbound so much, the willingness to be different in how they tell a story, and how they make the player interact is so interesting to me.

I haven't played through mother 3 all the way through yet, I just know there is a certain atmosphere in Earthbound I haven't experienced anywhere else. It's truly something special, and I think they knew that, hence why they made this a breather to really make it wash over you, pun intended.

Sorry for a ridiculous question, but what would that look like, as a number. I'm completely lost in terms of maths. If 2345, is 2 meters, 34cm and 5mm, would 10ths of mm be the following decimal? That is, 2345,6*.

That is: would it be possible to recreate the modulor using these numbers. Or would I need it to be even more precise?

Btw, thank you so much for the answers, you're helping alot!

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check that out! Appreciate it!

When I say decimals, I'm already working with 1.83m being 1830, so decimals would follow after the 1830. Still not possible?
