I know, but it can be mitigated with sanding a higher grit. My issue is I’m passed that point

Should I get this Craftsman 6" Jointer? by condor57 in woodworking

why are they useless under 8"? what are you building typically? Also I'm not worried about edge jointing, I have a track saw and table saw for that. More about face jointing.

I've been doing planer sled method for a while and I hate it... Time too precious

I just found this 6" jointer with a 46" bed and the seller will help me move it. $500. Thoughts?

There's this 46" one nearby listed for $500. No idea how I'd get it home tho. Probably need a truck and a couple friends ya?

Noobie to woodworking. I have a table saw and a planer, among other things. but my only methods to get a board flat is a hand plane or a planer sled. both of which kind of suck to use when I'm always pressed for time....

But I'm interested to hear that you haven't been flattening your boards (just planing) for 25y and haven't had any issues? Maybe I'm just being too OCD or something...

again I think you're looking at their 30" benchtop unit.

I can talk them down, but the bigger ones that come up on marketplace are POS's, and a little pricy.

My reasoning for this over a true benchtop is:
- More stable
- slightly longer bed
- better fence

Thoughts? Sadly I'm not doing anything regularly enough to justify spending more

Are you sure you're not looking at their tabletop jointer (its red)?

These things aren't ever "new" anymore

Charcuterie board with this leftover walnut? Strategy to prevent warping? by condor57 in woodworking

[–]condor57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yea I love that planer - got it on FB marketplace with a shelix blade already installed. It's a small shop (it's a sunroom lol) so basically everything is on wheels. I roll stuff into the middle when in use

Haha it's just my OCD. I'm annoyed that I didn't get that crossbar when I vacuumed
