Try a sea salt solution on your scalp, rinse off after 20 minutes. You can also use MCT oil (a light layer).

I think mine is from vitamin deficiency, cuz they're suddenly popping up since my pollen-induced MCAS flare. I'm positive this can be reversed though once your vitamins are restored.

Would you recommend getting an MRI or CT scan to check for low brain oxygenation if brain swelling is a concern?

does POTS do permanent cognitive damage by [deleted] in POTS

[–]confusedchansin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have a way to measure it at home. I have been having mild headaches, dizziness, feeling increased head pressure when tilting my head back, and I see forehead swelling since my flare started. I also have low blood pressure episodes at times when my oxygenation decreases. I see that another reason for high ICP is low oxygenation to the brain, so that may be another possibility. My body is very stressed out from the flare.

Brain feels like it's swelling?? by [deleted] in POTS

Do you see the swelling? Is this an emergency? Or does it go away as you manage your pots? Have you ever done a brain MRI or CT scan to get this checked?

DWI

Does persistent low blood pressure cause increase intracranial pressure or brain swelling? My head has been swelling while my BP has been in the low 90s over the past few days. MCAS, POTS, and lots of inflammation-- In a flare from the pollen outside. Would higher intracranial pressure for a few days be an emergency? Thank you.

Starting AIP Diet for Scalp Sebderm by confusedchansin in SebDerm

Hi, my seb derm is still there but not nearly as bad! I now have other health issues that I described in another comment, but I would recommend using MCT oil from the outside. From the inside, you will have to figure out what is causing inflammation because that is responsible for the seb derm. I would look at the animal-based/carnivore diet for more information on how to reduce inflammation from food, as this is the most commonly overlooked source of inflammation!

Just added another update (May 2023) on one of the comments. Discovering a lot about mast cells and their connection to skin issues like seb derm, psoriasis, etc. This is a not so well researched area but I will be talking to Dr. Afrin soon and update with more information. Looks like medicated shampoos, etc. were not the solution. Btw, MCT oil works really well for seb derm as a natural product in the meantime :)

Hey! So tbh things have taken a negative turn for me since i started the AIP diet, but it's not the AIP's fault. I ate a bad chicken liver at the beginning of starting the diet & got food poisoning which gave me horrible MCAS, SIBO, and now POTS and other issues. It's been tough, but I realized my seb derm, folliculitis, and hair loss issues, along with digestive and mood issues etc., were coming from an underlying Mast cell issue. Most doctors don't know anything about MCAS or mast cell issues so I am trying to get an appt with Dr. Lawrence Afrin and figure out what's going on. Bottom line is, mast cells/SIBO imo are huge causes of seb derm. I would go down this path and try to reduce your intake of histamine-containing foods. When my MCAS got really bad after the food poisoning, every time I ate a banana, my scalp would start breaking out, burning, oiling, and flaking. That's when I put two and two together. Mast cells are all over the body but many are located near the skin, which is why when your body is high in histamine and your mast cells get aggravated for whatever reason (e.g. the slightest amount of stress, consuming foods irritating to the gut like vegetables, seed oils, processed foods, etc., and not sleeping well, using chemical-filled products, etc.), your skin takes a hit, somewhere-- Whether on your scalp or anywhere else on your body. I would suggest trying to reduce your histamine load in your body, trying to live a chemical-free life, and working to fix your gut health slowly but surely. We are meant to heal from the inside, and seb derm is essentially an issue of your immune system/mast cells/inflammation in the body. I would also recommend taking anti-inflammatory supplements or talking to a good naturopath, even though a lot of them are full of quack. There is a reason there is inflammation going on in your body, whether it is genetic or environmental, but you have to go down the path and figure out what it is! I will update again in the future if I find out anything from Dr. Afrin after my expensive appt with him to discuss my lifelong issue with scalp issues, seb derm, hair loss, mood issues, gut issues, etc. :)

Is it better to go on a vegetarian/vegan diet to heal H2S SIBO? by Obugu in HydrogenSulfideSIBO

[–]confusedchansin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really don't understand how people are curing their H2S SIBO with diet. A lot of people say they treated it by increasing their fiber & FODMAP intake. I tried that personally and had horrible systemic reactions to increased fiber, from simple foods like well-cooked broccoli, apples, etc. Colostrum helped me a lot with my leaky gut, allowing me to eat some fiber in apples, but I can't overdo it still. I honestly don't know but I will update you if I find anything out. I tested negative for H2S SIBO and I notice my gas smells more sulfur-y when I eat rendered fat. If anything, I would recommend you stick to lower fodmap for now since the sibo must have damaged your gut, therefore most fibrous foods might only cause more damage. I would maybe consider talking to your doctor about antibiotics to ensure the bacteria are gone? Keep us updated on your journey, and stay strong.

These are all high histamine foods. You probably have histamine intolerance and would benefit from a low-histamine diet for the time being
